I don't know how anyone else comes to their beliefs, how did you come to your beliefs? Are you pro life, pro choice, against drinking, mercy killing, smoking, card playing, gambling, dancing? I would think most people form their opinions through personal experience, have they been affected by one of these things or by their association with different groups or family members. I am pro choice to a point, don't believe in mercy killing, think suicide is selfish, don't mind a social drinker, love to dance, play cards, don't like to be around smoke, and don't have a problem with gambling unless it causes harm to the person or their family.

I think organized religion has a place in society. Most churches do a lot of good in their communities. There are a lot of food pantries, financial aid, and other support that would not be available if the churches and their outreach programs were not in place.

In case I haven't mentioned it I did not grow up in a go to church environment. I grew up in a very upper middle class family and we were not particularly religious.

I think organized religion only builds shrines of masturbation to it's attendee's and for the profit of those who run them.  The mega-buildings and their upkeep could feed, clothe and house millions compared to the paltry sums spent on the communities they are in (with the additional loss of tax dollars from their business).  The NASCAR crowd have taken that even further with mega-church coliseums and multi-media/broadcast studios.  They are leeches on the weak minds of the masses.  Just think of the real good all that paid masturbation could do if put to real needs in the world.

To each his own. I am sure you do your part to help those that need it.
