Title: Job change
Post by: Magistrate on September 24, 2006, 10:23:10 PM
I was waiting to share this with others until it was a certainty and became official. Tonight it was made official, so now I want to share this good news with my friends in the Zone.

Our church has a job opening for a Maintenance Manager, and I felt I was qualified for the job, so I applied for the position. I told them during the interview, that I still intended to run for Magistrate in the '08 election, but that I will know for sure, when the time comes to register as a candidate whether I will try again. Even with that, they still offered me the job!

I will be going from a job where I live in front of a computer, to one where I will be doing alot of hands on work and have little access to a computer during the day.

This is a great opportunity for me, and I am really thankful for the chance to work close to home with some really great people. I hope I will serve the church with honor as I work for them. I will not be able to access the Zone during the day in another two weeks, but you are all a part of our life, so I will be cruising the streets of the Zone, every chance I get! I will miss being able to pop in during the day when I get a break, but I will try to get caught up in the evenings and say hi to my friends here in the Zone.

The Red Haired-Girl seems to be happy with this coming change in employment also, since it means I am closer to home! She says we can have more time together now. One would almost think that she Loves me! :smitten: Don't tell her, but I have to admit that I am looking forward to seeing her precious smile alot more often! I am truly blessed.

Have a great week my friends! Please pray for me, that I will serve in this new role with honor.

Yep.... Monday.... today was his last day.... he won't be working for his boss (my "X") anymore! LOL>.. this has been fun while it lasted... to watch the expression on people's faces when we tell them that.. LOL

Magistrate is excited about starting the new job... me, too... he'll be leaving later, and getting home earlier.... and more paid vacation.... everything seems like it is going to be good! :-).....

He says that it is the first time he will be livining in the same town where he works... with the old job he was driving 90 miles a day, PLUS paying turnpike tolls.....

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa  hoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had totally forgotten that it was your "x" he worked for! LOL! I take it then that you all remain friendly?
You know, I have some friends who everyone looks at as if they are crazy...because the "ex wife" and the new wife are very good friends who do a lot together socially. The husbands play cards together, too. But the look on peoples faces when they understand the situation is priceless! In their case, there are children involved, so I think it is wonderful that they all get along so well. Why is it that in our society, once a marriage or romantic relationship ends, there is supposed to be an almost hatred of the parties among themselves? Ive always thought that was silly.

Speaking of tolls, though, are they going to raise them? I know they planned to last year, but that was stopped...is there talk again?

We sure do Gryphon! He hated to see me go. The LRHG's ex and the president of the company tried to get me to stay, but understood the opportunity and agreed that I would be stupid not to take it. They did say that if it didn't work, and I wanted my job back in a week, or even 6 months from now, that they would take me back! That really meant alot to me to hear that from them. I enjoyed my time working with them. And our relationship and friendship is still strong.  The office staff brought in breakfast, and the LRHG's ex (my boss) took my coworkers and me out to Ruby Tuesdays for lunch as a going away present. I will miss my friends from work, but look forward to the new ones that will come with this new job.
I haven't heard any new news on the toll prices, other than they won;t be allowed to raise them in the future without approval from the people.
Please pray that all goes well as I transition into this new job. I have alot of work to do, to prepare the church for the winter. And a long list of things that need attention inside as well. So I have plenty of job security it seems! LOL Have a great week my friends!

Is there a Ruby Tuesday in Beckley now?? Is it up on Harper Road? I drive through there everytime Im home, and it seems something new is always popping up but I never slow down to notice what it actually is.

Yeah, from all he has heard that needs to be done (the church has been w/o a maintance man for about a month now, and we have the High School portion of the Christian school at our church) that i just may not get to see him as much as I thought!  :-\  But it will be so nice for him to at least be in the same town with me... all day long.

Yes... it is on the same side of the interstate as Tamarak, and on Harper Road.  It opened this summer... nice place.

Maybe that is where we can all  meet and have dinner sometimes when you are passing through.  :)

On the news this morning was this very subject. It seems that a study is being done and that Gov. Manchin will make a decision in January whether to raise tolls to two dollars or not. It seems that he will be the voice of the people!

anything to make a dime... or a dollar and a quarter....

and it IS an election year, so did you notice that the decision is not being made till after November?

How have the first couple of days on the new job been Magistrate?

Got alot of ground to cover each day. The property is several acres and I have stuff to check and work on in every corner of the property. Lots of walkin', so I think I will get pretty heart healthy! LOL Got to work on an effluent pump the first day and had to jump start the church van today because one of the coaches for the school turned on the dome light and left it on after they got out. Looks like the battery may still be good. Gonna do some prep on the main building for winter tomorrow. I also have a salt spreader that is a solid slug of rust and needs serious attention!   That will probably take a week on it's own! LOL I have to get my health card renewed for my CDL and need to get my passenger endorsement added to it. I need to get the info from DMV and start studying for the test. They want me to get that done ASAP so I can help with driving the large bus we have from time to time. Should be fun! Gotta see about getting a new windshield for the van. It took a rock recently and is cracking.
I also have to get my certification as a waste water treatment operator. That will probably be in the spring when the next state class will be. I will have to spend a week in Clarksburg for that.
I am surprised at how much there is to do. The nice thing is, that it all doesn't have to be done in a day!
I am liking it so far!
Sunny is right, about sleeping like a baby! I am headed that way right now!

I'll start working on them crunches between the long walks around the property! ROFL! Can you feel them thighs burnin'? I can!  One two three four, one two three four! :sweatdrop: Whew! I worked up a sweat! Better be careful or the LRHG might think I'm a bit gamey!

It's going great BEG! I am really enjoying it! It has kept me busy and getting the exercise that I have needed in the process. I did have a disappointment happen this past Wednesday. I saw a person parked by our church van at the far end of the parking lot when church let out. He was standing against the front of his pickup smoking a cigarette. I thought he was staying back out of respect of others and thought nothing of it. He really had siphoned a 1/4 tank of gas out of the van and was waiting for the parking lot to empty so he could get more! A neighbor of his who attends our church, knew he was not one who attended here, and made small tlak with him until he got frustrated and just left. I had to buy a locking gascap for the church's van! I can't imagine what kind of person would steal gas from a church! Other than that, I am very happy in my new position. Here you can learn a little about my church home. It even has links to the sermons! I think you would enjoy them. Our pastor is a wonderful teacher of the Word. You can see it here: http://www.johnstonchapel.org/

When I lived in Bluefield, I attended a Baptist church on Princeton Aveune. I don't know if it's still there, but it was on the East side of Bluefield. Anyway, we had someone walk in during service and steal the collection plates, right off the pastor's desk. Plates and cash.

Well I just wanted to let people know that I have resigned from my position with Johnston Chapel and am concentrating my efforts on winning the upcoming election. It was taking way too much of my time to allow for me to finish my home and campaign too. I will be doing some construction work to help pay the bills, while giving me the time to be able to have a strong campaign. Please keep me in your prayers if you pray. My chances are as good as they will ever be, but winning an election for Magistrate in Mercer County WV, registered as a Republican has NEVER happened in the past. It will not be easy, but it is possible! I am confident that I can win.
