Antipathy towards college educated assholes by me is well earned and learned. I have been around and worked for so many damn idiots, fools and air head with college degrees and I imagine you have too. :yes: It is no wonder some of these companies lose money and go out of business by hiring only people with degrees instead of hiring by experience and talent included in the hiring of an employee. I raised 3 daughters, helped raise 2 step-daughters, have 9 grand kids, 4 of which are within the age group this young man in question is, one a tad younger, two only 6 and 7, and two a tad older, 3 step grandsons, one around the same age and 2 coming into that age group. Now, if you're going to count your 5 daughters as having you a bit more "connected" to that age group I'd say you're a tad bit behind me. I am also around or have contact with a lot of their friends so, ya, I'd say I'm pretty "connected" with the age group in question. Your mistake is wanting to group everyone of that age into the same category like everything else and you just can't do that.

I guess what it all boils down to is the lumping all 18 to 22 yr olds into the same category and the fact that he was tagged as stupid for not wanting to go to college. Not all people aspire to make big bucks so they can buy stuff and things but prefer to live a modest life and not have to deal with the stress of keeping up with the Jone's. There is nothing wrong with her wanting more or him settling, at least at this point in his life, for just a job. She probably doesn't love him anyway or she would accept him like he is and be the one with the career and higher education and allow him to be himself with just a job. I think each and every case is different. Kids grow up at different ages. It takes some kids well into their late twenties or even later to finally grow up, some kids know at an early age what they want and expect in this life. It may take the sorrow of losing this girl to wake him want more in this life. I think it takes all kinds to make this world turn. It doesn't make this a bad kid by his lake of motivation, it takes painful events like this to make him evaluate his life.

By early Christmas morning, Preston Pollard, 23, of Venus and the ex-girlfriend's father, Richard Hutson, 36, of Marion Oaks, Fla., were dead. Hutson's wife, Mary Lou Hutson, 55, was shot and taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
After Pollard shot the Hutsons, he drove off, authorities said. A few hours and about 350 miles later, Pollard shot himself as officers spotted his car heading west on Interstate 10 in Okaloosa County, Fla.
"I know my son. That's not him," said Stephen Pollard, Preston Pollard's father. "He was not a mean person."
The younger Pollard, a recent graduate of Air Force basic training, had bought a plane ticket for the 18-year-old that Stephen Pollard said was still his son's girlfriend. She previously had lived here and she was supposed travel to Texas for the holidays.
Stephen Pollard said his son had lived with the girlfriend's family in Florida for a time.
But as the holidays got closer, the 23-year-old learned that his 18-year-old girlfriend would not be coming. Stephen Pollard thinks his son decided to go get her himself.
Preston Pollard arrived in Marion Oaks, a more than 1,000-mile trip, at 12:17 a.m. ET Thursday.
"They opened the door, and he started shooting," Lauren Lettelier, Marion County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, told the Ocala (Fla.) Star Banner.
Mary Lou Hutson, whom deputies consider the target, was shot four times. Richard Hutson, who was in a nearby bedroom, was shot at least once.
"Something went wrong," Stephen Pollard said. "Nobody really knows what happened. ... They say he opened the door and started shooting. That doesn't sound very likely to me."
The former girlfriend heard the shots and herded three younger children into a bathroom at the house. They were unharmed.
The Hutson family has asked media not to contact them.
In Texas, Ellis County deputies showed up at Stephen Pollard's door at about 2:30 a.m. CT on Christmas asking where his son was; Venus is about 30 miles southwest of Dallas. The father said he then called his son, who said he was driving about an hour away in Weatherford, Texas, and would be home soon.
When Stephen Pollard called his son again when he didn't return, the father could tell something was wrong. Authorities told him that his son shot himself as the younger Pollard drove 70 mph along I-10 and Florida Highway Patrol officers closed in.
Stephen Pollard is still struggling to understand what happened. He said his son didn't own a gun and that authorities' version of events doesn't add up.
"Why would he drive all that way to kill somebody?" Stephen Pollard asked. "He was driving that way to see his girlfriend."

Same here, I was a blue collar worker for most of my life. The company I work for is the IBEW. I work closely with people of all races. I think it takes all kinds to make this country work the way it does. Those with college degrees and those who are trade workers, min wage workers, ditch diggers, cashiers and so on. I never, ever said I had a college degree. But I did plenty of higher learning classes and I still do every time I get the chance. It took me from busting my ass out in the "fields" to an office where I design, engineer, estimate, teach and project manage for a living. My back and knees was wearing out.

I can believe that. My husband sells copiers and they are ever changing! It use to be that they just made simple copies. Now they staple, fax, sort and even sort if that is what you want plus you can have them programmed from your computer to print to copier.
