Fannie Mae taps $7.8 billion from Treasury, loss widens
(Reuters) - Fannie Mae, the biggest source of money for U.S. home loans, on Tuesday said it needed a further $7.8 billion in federal aid to stay afloat as a shaky housing market widened its third-quarter loss to $5.1 billion.
Fannie Mae has now drawn $112.6 billion in bailout funds from the Treasury Department since being seized by the government in 2008 as mortgage losses mounted, and it has returned $17.2 billion to taxpayers in the form of dividends.

Why don't you bring up the Trillion dollars that George w. gave the too big to fail banks, with no strings. Have they paid any of it back. Have any of the thieves in the housing market went to jail. Aren't the rich getting richer. Are the Republicans willing to put America in a full depression to make Obama a one term president.

Yep, it's got to be those longtime political donors that get no-bid contracts. I wonder how much money Dick Cheney got the government to give Halliburton. I'll bet $433 million wouldn't cover one month out of the seven year war in Iraq.

Please note that the gov't took Fannie and Freddie BACK in 2008, a year before Obama. They were private at that time and Bush made them gov't, again.

"The former Pennsylvania senator was arguing against what he called a mandate in the health care legislation passed by President Barack Obama and Democrats in 2010. He said Saturday at an appearance in Ohio that the law was intended to increase abortions and reduce overall health care costs.
"One of the mandates is they require free prenatal testing in every insurance policy in America," Santorum, a conservative Roman Catholic, told a Christian Alliance luncheon in Columbus. "Why? Because it saves money in health care. Why?
Because free prenatal testing ends up in more abortions and therefore less care that has to be done, because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society."

Look there is a difference between a prenatal exam and prenatal care and Troll, you did misspeak any way you look at it so don't turn around and make it look like I'm the one in error here I simply pointed out the difference. I did not voice an opinion on it either way I simply found the article and interview and pointed out what he actually said. I also stated that I would not vote for him based on what I've seen so far and it has nothing what-so-ever to do with that remark that was made by him. Now if you want to continue with the put downs fine but remember this, if you're gonna dish it out you'd better be prepared to take it 'cause I might just get my fill of it and fire back at some point. Prenatal Care - Routine and preventive health care provided during pregnancy to safeguard the health and well-being of the woman and the Fetus. In the United States routine prenatal care consists of regular visits to the health-care provider (family practitioner, obstetrician, or nurse midwife), URINE and BLOOD tests, BLOOD PRESSURE checks, and additional diagnostic procedures as needed such as ULTRASOUND, AMNIOCENTESIS, or CHORIONIC VILLI SAMPLING (CVS). The schedule of visits varies according to the trimester of pregnancy and any specific concerns about the pregnancy.
I can attest to the fact that ultrasound is indeed considered "prenatal care", and have the pictures of my last 4 grandchildren, (in the womb), to prove it! Some of which I have posted within this very forum.
Diagnostic, prenatal care testing has become SOP in the United States and has helped many potential parents in preparing for a child that will be born with a disability, and in some cases making the hard choice to terminate a pregnancy that will result in a child experiencing a very poor quality/quantity of life should the pregnancy be allowed to run its course.
It is a decision that no one wants to make, but a decision that entails mercy as its basis for being arrived at. And this guy wants to eliminate a woman / couple's right to make an informed decision based upon the empirical evidence this testing provides!
I have a cousin who gave birth to two children with severe birth defects, before any medical testing was performed to determine the cause for these defects. Had she and her husband known ahead of time that the children would be born with this condition, they would have had an opportunity to spare the children the short and tortured lives they lived. (This was before prenatal care included diagnostic testing procedures that are SOP today).
Hate to say this but I agree on this one. He is letting his personal feelings overrule his better judgement because it doesn't always turn out for everyone else like it did for him and there are severe deformities where the child should not be born but that is up to the parents to decide. But it is just the prenatal "testing" just for the purpose of abortions he wants stopped, which I don't think is done, not the preventative. I think he's dazed and confused on that reasoning because I don't believe anyone has those tests done with the sole purpose of having an abortion in mind. The way Troll stated his original post was prenatal care which encompassed all of it which is why I questioned it and looked up the article and interview and let Troll know he did not say all of prenatal care.
So you picked one part of one post by one person and made an issue out of it, ignoring the whole point of Santorum's statement.
That is what is laughable.
Brilliant evaluation and incisive comment.
If the Americans want to return to the Dark Ages all they need do is vote the Republicans back into office with a majority.
Just look at the states where the Republican control the states. Just a plain disasters. Look and Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Virgina, Arizona and many other Republican control states. The Republicans say they want freedom and small government. But if you look they want to take a woman's rights and workers to have a union and want to increase the taxes on the poor and middle class and protect the super from more taxation.
We have a Republican controlled state of Virginia. Right now they are trying to pass a bill that says that a woman who wants a abortion to have a 12 inch long, 2 inches in diameter probe shoved up into the woman's Virgina for an ultrasound against her will or consent. I call it RAPE. The men can get Viagra on their state health insurance to have more unwanted pregnancies. I say if the men want Viagra to have the same probe shoved up their penis's. Virginia dicks and pricks only.
The Republicans in Virginia want to pass a bill to make in illegal to use a cuss word on the Internet, making it a crime to cuss. What is wrong with the Christian dumbasses. What about free speech in the Constitution.
When are the Republican women and the other women going to raise up and have those ultrasound probes shoved up the Republican men's asses and put this country back into the 21ST Century.
The Republicans are always screaming about Obama raping the Constitution, the super rich, the country and religion. But it's OK to shove a large probe up a woman's Virgina for an ultrasound without her consent. We have to stop the agenda of the Republican to return American into a European Dark Ages.

It's a slow day in the small town of Pumphandle and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody is living on credit. A tourist visiting the area drives through town, stops at the hotel, and lays a $100 bill on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs to pick one for the night. As soon as he walks upstairs, the hotel owner grabs the bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. (Stay with this..... and pay attention) The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill to his supplier, the Co-op. The guy at the Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit. The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel Owner. The hotel proprietor then places the $100 back on the counter so the traveler will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, picks up the $100 bill and leaves. No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole town now thinks that they are out of debt and there is a false atmosphere of optimism and glee. ............................................................... And that is how a "stimulus package" works!

No, that did not come from my inbox for your information. It was on Hubby's BIL's, who was head math professor at Huntington U. until his retirement a few years ago, FB page. I did not post it as a fact thing I posted it because I thought it was cute but you, having no sense of humor, wouldn't understand that.

I laugh at lots of things...if they're funny. The fact still reamins that this has nothing to do with any stimulus but is a pretty good description about how money flows through any normal economy. Trying to turn it into a dig on Bush's stimulus packages doesn't change that.

I never said I was perfect but here's a clue for you asshat: I am a dog person and got bitten pretty good on my right wrist/hand earlier this week catching someone else's dog before he got hit in heavy traffic. The bite got infected and I spent a good portion of my day Wednesday in the ER and seeing a hand specialist and am making daily trips through the weekend for dressing changes and IV antibiotics. I am right handed and it is currently splinted and heavily bandaged so I am typing and using my mouse with my left hand and on Vicodin for pain. I'm sure that it's difficult for someone like you to understand why I would put myself at risk for another living creature but it's just how I roll...and I'd do the same thing tomorrow if needed.
Oh, and I don't know the people whose dog I caught nor do I expect them to pay for injuries I received helping them. Once I verified the dog's vaccinations were up to date, I was on my way.
Now ask me how impressed I am that you found a typo I made today?
FWIW, here's what the bite looked like before the infection really took hold. The marks that look like little slits were made by the dog's molars so he had a pretty good grip on my arm for a second (70-80 lb. mixed breed dog).

I wouldn't have expected anything less. I think you've not only established that you're a dog lover, but that you have a a good understanding of how they think/react/behave. You knew perfectly well the dog was scared and I'm assuming that you are a stranger to the dog and because of those factors alone, the risk you were taking and did it anyway. If the owners are in a position to pay, they should offer, but the fact that you don't expect them to speaks volumes about your character. Actually, the entire incident does. :tiphat:

Well, if you set aside the 'tude, reexamined some of your statements, admitted when you were wrong, and didn't play snotty and snarky with people who never called names (just pointed out horrible errors in thinking and gross contradictions in statements), you might get a little further, and people would find the humor that you claim you are inserting. Trouble is, some of your statements are so far out there, that I thought they were humor at first, only to find out later that you were serious.

But, then again, I'm not a right-wing conservative, so I'm naturally confused.
I have a difference of opinion on some things and that is not an error in thinking it is a difference of opinion. I do not like the way some people of the opposing political views have been put down, called names, had their kids made fun of and personally attacked rather than just disagreeing with their views. I would do the same if someone where saying things like that about Michelle Obama and I definitely don't agree with her politics on most things or her husbands. Calling a person an idiot is one thing but to be calling them whores, sluts, and some other various names I don't recall off hand and going after the family and kids is an entirely different matter. I'm not particularly religious either but I don't put down people who are and call them names and try to shame them I accept the fact that they have a different belief and let it go. Now there are some exceptions to that like that group that protests those funerals and the radical muslims but I still don't call them crude names or make fun of them. People are raised different, have different life experiences, and what works for one doesn't work for all. Why do you think 2 families have a hard time living together? They each have their own way of doing things and what is right for one isn't for the other. Just like politics, there will never be a time when every one sees the facts the same way or agree on everything. If there is we are in trouble for sure. This is not aimed at you but rather a general statement made out of frustration from seeing it done over and over in various threads.
So what have I accomplished here by posting this? Absolutely nothing probably and I've once again opened myself up for ridicule but, hey, what the heck I guess ya'll have to have someone to make fun of so it might as well be me.

FWIW, here's what the bite looked like before the infection really took hold. The marks that look like little slits were made by the dog's molars so he had a pretty good grip on my arm for a second (70-80 lb. mixed breed dog).

Damn dude! I know that is hurting like hell!

Why don't you put in some extra paragraphs in so your bullshit is easier to read. Even tho I have a large monitor the crap all runs together and is hard to read and differently hard to comprehend as is everything else you incoherently nag on. Honey Buns.

EX, did you know this dog, or did the dog belong to a friend. This is one dog that should be muzzeled or put down. It sure don't look like a playful bite. Get well, Liberal friend.
