Title: Wake up, America, before it's too late!
Post by: Gardengirl on June 25, 2009, 09:53:38 PM
Wake up  America !!!

by Pam  Geller

I am a  student of history.  Professionally, I have written 15 books in  six languages, and have studied history all my life.  I think  there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it  is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit  crisis.  Yes, these exist  but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is  only now coming into a sharper  focus.
Something  of historic proportions is happening.  I can sense it because I  know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react  to it.  Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is  something happening within our country that has been evolving for  about 10 - 15 years.  The pace has dramatically quickened in  the past two.

We  demanded and then codified into law the requirement that our banks  make massive loans to people whom we knew could never pay  back?  Why?  We learned recently that the Federal Reserve,  which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned"  two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few  months, but  will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the  terms.   That is our money. Yours and mine.  And that is three  times the $700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past  September.
Who has  this money?  Why do they have it?  Why are the terms  unavailable to us?  Who asked for it?  Who authorized  it?  I thought this was a government of "We the People," who  loaned our powers to our elected leaders.  Apparently  not.

We  have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our  economy.   Why?

We have  intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no  longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why  we are worth preserving.  Students by and large cannot write,  think critically, read, or articulate.  Parents are not  revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to  back mediocrity.  Why?

We have  now established the precedent of protesting every close election  (now violently in California over a proposition that is so  controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and  one woman.  Did you ever think such a thing possible just a  decade ago?).  We have  corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges  to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then  mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting  system into a banana republic.  To what  purpose?

Now our  mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall,  major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of  collapse, Social Security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our  entire government.  Our education system is worse than a joke  (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about.)  The list is staggering in its  length, breadth, and depth.  It is potentially 1929 x 10.    And we are  at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of  the same religion who cannot wait to slit the throats of your  children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we  have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so  much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla , Alaska  .  All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals  in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about  him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary(Surely you have heard him speak about his  idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force  stronger than our military for use inside our borders?   No?  Oh, of course.  The media would never play that for  you over and over and then demand he answer it.

Mr.  Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word:   Change...radical change.  Why?

I have  never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am  now.  This man campaigned on bringing people together,  something he has never, ever done in his professional life.  In  my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push  us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and  different power structure.  Change is indeed coming.  And when it  comes, you will never see the same nation  again.

And that  is only the beginning.
I never thought that I would ever be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s.  In those times, the savior was a former  smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to  nothing.  What they did know was that he was associated with  groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they  disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great  oratory and promises.  Economic times were tough,  people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker.  And he  smiled and waved a lot.  And people, even newspapers, were  afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully  them into submission.

And then  he was duly elected to office, with a full-throttled economic crisis  at hand [the Great Depression].  Slowly but surely he seized  the controls of government power, department by department, person  by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy.   The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were  taught what to think.  How did he get the people on his  side?  He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the  moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial  complex.   He  did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control,  health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to  re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe , and  across the world.

He  did it with a compliant media - Did you know  that?  And  he did this all in the name of justice and...change.  And the  people surely got what they voted for.  (Look it up if you  think I am exaggerating.)  Read your history books.  Many  people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed  at, and made fun of.  When Winston Churchill pointed out the  obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in  England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat  and called a crazy troublemaker.  He was right,  though.

Don't  forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in  Europe .  It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals,  laboratories, and universities.  And in less than six years - a  shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency - it  was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its  laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against  neighbors.  All with the best of intentions, of course.   The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a  practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I  have a choice:  I can either believe what the objective pieces  of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I  can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of  seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong, close my eyes, have another  latte and ignore what is transpiring around me.

Some  people scoff at me; others laugh or think I am foolish, naive, or  both.  Perhaps I am.  But I have never been afraid to look  people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe - and why I  believe it.  I pray I am wrong.  But, I do not think I  am.

Since  many of you enjoy senior citizen status or will sometime in the not  too distant future, I thought you might be interested in this  information.

IN GOD WE  TRUST
Everybody  that is on this mailing list is either a senior citizen, is getting  close, or knows somebody that is. Most of  you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the "stimulus"  bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care for  senior citizens.  The author of this part of the bill, former  senator and tax evader, Tom Daschle, was credited today by Bloomberg  with the following statement.

Bloomberg:   "Daschle says health-care reform  will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the  conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

If  this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that  Senators and Congressmen have their own healthcare plan that is  first dollar or very low co-pay which they are guaranteed the  remainder of their lives and are not subject to this new law if it  passes.

Please use  the power of the Internet to get this message out.  Talk it up  at the grassroots level.  We have an election coming up in one  year and nine months.  We have the ability to address and  reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and its  allies have begun and in the interim, we can make our voices  heard!  Let's do it!

If you  disagree, don't do anything.

Pam Geller is a dumb, racist bitch.  The world will be a better place when she and anyone who follows the bile she spreads are dead.

A spokesperson for the Federal Elections Commission has released a statement that they received a complaint recently from Pamela Geller, author of the Atlas Shrugs website. In her complaint, she demanded that the FEC "stop" Barack Obama's presidential campaign - first, because the original US Constitution "did not allow for slaves to vote", therefore she believes that "any black man is ineligible to run for President and that any vote for himself or anyone else is invalid"

Still think Ms. Geller might have a valid point, Henry?

Actually, you've commented three times in this thread.  If you don't know who she is or anything about her, maybe it's best just to STFU?

Have it your own way but you've obviously never heard the old adage about it being better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot than to open it and remove all doubt.  Carry on...every village has one.

Well, Henry, I should have thought it was fairly obvious that Pam Geller pissed in his Wheaties. And mine. And those of every rational person who doesn't buy into her rabid, frothing-at-the-mouth hate-mongering. Looks to me like you were just too eager to try to score off Ex to perform the basic courtesy of learning what you were talking about, before jumping in gleefully with the hatchet.

You can call Ex rude, provoking, subjective, one-sided because he has at times exhibited all those characteristics (as have we all. ) But this time, at least, you can't call him wrong.

I am disappointed in you. I thought you had more integrity than to pull that banjo-country "if he's agin it, I'm fer it!" shit.

Anyone take exception to Mr. Daschle's comment about seniors should be more acception of conditions that go with old age and not treat them? I would like him to elaborate on that. Who doesn't get treated for what. I know that prostate cancer doesn't get treated if you are over 80 and on medicare.

My father was treated, successfully, at the age of 86. On medicare.

We have a good friend who is over 80 and was told that medicare would not pay to treat his prostate cancer so he had to pay for the treatment himself. Don't know what the difference would be between the two cases.

But, again, what exactly did Mr. Daschle mean by his statement?

Perhaps he meant that those who will not accept the fact that they won't look 25 years old forever, are going to end up looking like Michael Jackson. (Or like he did last week. I haven't seen any photos of the corpse.) And having the same bank balance.

Maybe, but it sounds to me more like if you are old don't expect treatment for serious illness that are not guaranteed to completely cure you. We shall see.

I take it to mean after a certain age it isn't cost efficient to treat any illness so you're SOL and sorry 'bout your bad luck.

Yeah...too bad there aren't many 'productive citizens' in old age.  I guess they just figure they are breathing air that is necessary for younger healthier people.   Sucks.  The elderly are the best teachers.

I will tell you this, I do not know much about this  Pamela Geller, but, much of what she had or has to say, I have no problem with......my point IS, that is seemed like it was okay, when Michael Moore made movies and books, with many, many proven lies and his whole movie was scripted and edited to cast a very negative view of Bush, but this girl, has NOT even come close to Moores level of scum...and she is a bitch?

LOsborne, I most certainly CAN and WILL call EX wrong....but, the bottom line is, it don't mean a hill of beans....Ex has his opinion, that most time, I will disagree with him, and He almost always will disagree with me....THAT is the way we work.....and I'm not too concerned if I  DISAPPOINT you because YOU think I lack INTEGRITY.....I am extremely proud of my stances, that I take on here, and I will NOT bow down, to those who disagree with me or my point of views..........first of all, I am here to have fun and I know, I am NOT going to change EX's opinion or anybody else's on here, nor will anybody on here change mine, just because, they think that THEY have all the answers.

Oh, here we go again.  Every time you bring this crap up and are asked to substantiate your claims that his information was lies, you get your ass handed to you on a platter but feel free to offer your proof (again) so that you can be made a fool.  Was it scripted to make a specific point?  Yes.  Was it factually incorrect?  No.

QuoteLOsborne, I most certainly CAN and WILL call EX wrong....but, the bottom line is, it don't mean a hill of beans...

Correct, because it is only the opinion of someone who isn't well informed.

Okay, since you declare it appropriate, I will claim that since you approve of Pam Gellar's stance on many items, you must also be a devout follower of Father Feeney. How far out in left field do you want to go?

P.S. the "straw man" was in reference to the fallacious argument, not to you. Look it up.

whatever lo, you don't know squat about me..........i never claimed to know anything about the source other than, it is ALWAYS, the case where Ex, calls somebody a bitch, because they don't agree with him....I can careless about the author, maybe she is a bitch, but the initial post that started all of this, her comments was not bigoted, nor did I see anything that she said that was wrong....it was her opinion piece.

I've been reading it so long, I can understand what he's saying.

Remember, I've helped 6 kids through learning to write, and working on the 7th, I've seen it all before. LOL

Henry...you know I love ya, ya danged tree climbing peeper.

Please, allow me to reconstruct, lOsborne, it is of my deepest concern, that you do not comprehend fully, my innermost being. I would like to confess, that I never petitioned to comprehend anything about the source other than, it is ALWAYS, seems to be the case where Exterminator, refers to someone as a "bitch", if you will, because they do not concur with him....I can be concerned less about the composer, maybe she is a "bitch", but the original message that stilted all this, was that her analyses was not bigoted nor raciest, nor did I see anything that she said that was erroneous....it was her postulated material.

LOL.....stilted?

stilt·ed  (stltd)
adj.
1. Stiffly or artificially formal; stiff.
2. Architecture Having some vertical length between the impost and the beginning of the curve. Used of an arch.

And I'm not so sure postulated was the word you wanted in this context:

pos·tu·late  (psch-lt)
tr.v. pos·tu·lat·ed, pos·tu·lat·ing, pos·tu·lates
1. To make claim for; demand.
2. To assume or assert the truth, reality, or necessity of, especially as a basis of an argument.
3. To assume as a premise or axiom; take for granted. See Synonyms at presume.
n. (psch-lt, -lt)
1. Something assumed without proof as being self-evident or generally accepted, especially when used as a basis for an argument: "the postulate that there is little moral difference between the superpowers" (Henry A. Kissinger).
2. A fundamental element; a basic principle.
3. Mathematics An axiom.
4. A requirement; a prerequisite.

I am befogged and benumbed by the preceding analyses (sic).

Although, to be sure, it most assuredly was NOT the raciest (sic) post I have ever read -- even though the original author exposed her "postulated material."

Perhaps it would have been racier if she had exposed her posterior material instead.

That is probably doable, for the proper ROI. I'll volunteer. Except I'm afraid if I did poor Henry would be reduced to gibbering incomprehensibly -- Oh Wait!! He's already done that! -- and then Pari, Ex, FTW and Bo would be stuck with the task of Deconstructing Henry!

Postulated HAH! Who was the character in The Princess Bride who said, "you keep saying that word. I don't think it means what you think it means"?

It's part of that "stick a meaningful fork in me -- I've been done" procedure.

Hold it! If I do Henry, there isn't going to be any fork sticking in me -- no matter how meaningful! You guys are too kinky for this simple farm girl. I was just looking for a chapter for my book. Or a little hush money. That works too.

As for why: why did Monica do Bill, Maria do Mark, Kay do Ike... and so forth. ROI, of course.

True patriot love in all thy sons command.

The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

CBS, Helen Thomas Challenge Gibbs On "Controlled" Town Hall Meeting

CBS' Chip Reid and Helen Thomas double teamed Robert Gibbs today at the daily press briefing on the "tightly controlled" town hall meeting President Obama will hold on health care. Gibbs kept saying lets have this discussion AFTER the meeting. Helen Thomas accused the White House of "controlling the press." She said almost all White House/Obama events are "prepackaged." She accused the White House of not "having any answers."
