We have a good friend who is over 80 and was told that medicare would not pay to treat his prostate cancer so he had to pay for the treatment himself. Don't know what the difference would be between the two cases.

But, again, what exactly did Mr. Daschle mean by his statement?

Anyone take exception to Mr. Daschle's comment about seniors should be more acception of conditions that go with old age and not treat them?
Perhaps he meant that those who will not accept the fact that they won't look 25 years old forever, are going to end up looking like Michael Jackson. (Or like he did last week. I haven't seen any photos of the corpse.) And having the same bank balance.

Maybe, but it sounds to me more like if you are old don't expect treatment for serious illness that are not guaranteed to completely cure you. We shall see.

I take it to mean after a certain age it isn't cost efficient to treat any illness so you're SOL and sorry 'bout your bad luck.

Yeah...too bad there aren't many 'productive citizens' in old age.  I guess they just figure they are breathing air that is necessary for younger healthier people.   Sucks.  The elderly are the best teachers.
Looks like I've come full circle.

Well, Henry, I should have thought it was fairly obvious that Pam Geller pissed in his Wheaties. And mine. And those of every rational person who doesn't buy into her rabid, frothing-at-the-mouth hate-mongering. Looks to me like you were just too eager to try to score off Ex to perform the basic courtesy of learning what you were talking about, before jumping in gleefully with the hatchet.

You can call Ex rude, provoking, subjective, one-sided because he has at times exhibited all those characteristics (as have we all. ) But this time, at least, you can't call him wrong.

I am disappointed in you. I thought you had more integrity than to pull that banjo-country "if he's agin it, I'm fer it!" shit.

I will tell you this, I do not know much about this  Pamela Geller, but, much of what she had or has to say, I have no problem with......my point IS, that is seemed like it was okay, when Michael Moore made movies and books, with many, many proven lies and his whole movie was scripted and edited to cast a very negative view of Bush, but this girl, has NOT even come close to Moores level of scum...and she is a bitch?

LOsborne, I most certainly CAN and WILL call EX wrong....but, the bottom line is, it don't mean a hill of beans....Ex has his opinion, that most time, I will disagree with him, and He almost always will disagree with me....THAT is the way we work.....and I'm not too concerned if I  DISAPPOINT you because YOU think I lack INTEGRITY.....I am extremely proud of my stances, that I take on here, and I will NOT bow down, to those who disagree with me or my point of views..........first of all, I am here to have fun and I know, I am NOT going to change EX's opinion or anybody else's on here, nor will anybody on here change mine, just because, they think that THEY have all the answers.

You've been told enough about her in this very thread to be able to form an opinion and you continue to defend her.  Any chance you ever had of convincing anyone you're not a racist bigot just left the building permanently.

Oh, here we go again.  Every time you bring this crap up and are asked to substantiate your claims that his information was lies, you get your ass handed to you on a platter but feel free to offer your proof (again) so that you can be made a fool.  Was it scripted to make a specific point?  Yes.  Was it factually incorrect?  No.

Correct, because it is only the opinion of someone who isn't well informed.

Straw Man. No one has so much as mentioned Moore's name. Except you, of course.

First of all, I would never try to convunc ANYONE.......of anything................and I'm not even sure what convunc IS?

and I'm confident, that I am NOT a raciest bigot, not even by a long shot.....and trying to convuc YOU that I am not, is NOT a priority of mine...  ;)

so that makes me a 'staw man'... ......I really don't CARE if I play by these asinine rules that many of you seem to think HAVE to be followed......I am HERE to express MY opinion.....and Moore seemed VERY appropriate to the attack of Gellar....my comparison is pertinent to this discussion.

Okay, since you declare it appropriate, I will claim that since you approve of Pam Gellar's stance on many items, you must also be a devout follower of Father Feeney. How far out in left field do you want to go?

P.S. the "straw man" was in reference to the fallacious argument, not to you. Look it up.

I understand the straw man argument.........and I don't know squat about any father feeney, but, the original story that was posted here by Gellar, I have NO problem with...there is some in that story I agree with, and THAT is what this thread was supposed to be about.......Ex called her a raciest BITCH....and based upon THAT story, I saw NOTHING to get all bitchy about.........Hell, you can find quotes and stories about almost anybody, to make them bitch if you wanted to.

My thoughts was pertaining to the original story....that is it.

If you're going to spend so much effort making fun with an obvious typo, you might want to make sure you haven't made any glaring errors yourself while doing so.
