It's a risk, it's not ever safe anywhere.  You never know who you are meeting. This goes for the guy you see in the grocery store and smile at over the Banana's. 

I've been talking to the cowboy for a month. Started by him sending me an IM directly from the dating site, which I saw on my screen but did not answer because I had company.  But I did click the little button that brought up his profile.  When my company left, I looked at his profile, looked at his pictures he had posted, and decided I was interested in talking to him. So I sent him a mail on the site asking him what he looked like without a hat, because in all his pictures  he was wearing one, and apologized to him for not accepting his IM but I had company.  He mailed me back asking me if I had yahoo or aol, and I replied with my yahoo ID.  The next morning before 7am, he messaged and we talked for a bit. Then talked every day afterwards, sometimes a couple of times a day. Then he asked for my phone number so he could call me and I gave him cell number, he started calling me and we sent text messages. I would say we have talked a lot over the last month using all three forms.  We set up one meeting, but he had to back out. I don't know if we are going to set up another one or not. But I would like to. I just feel I have talked to him enough that I am ready to meet.  I can't be 100% certain it's safe, but then I can't be sure it's safe every time anyone knocks on my door either.
