These are not my words, but speak volumes....despite many around whe STILL find ways of bashing Americans....I think THIS says alot about this country..and why there is still some PATRIOTISM around...

An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek.

An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan.

An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim.

In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.

An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world.

The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need.

When the Soviet army overran Afghanistan 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!

As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan.

Americans welcome the best, the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America.

Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. I've been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 other countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must.
Hitler did.
So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of the world.

But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

yep.  many tribes.  but not many actual native americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim.

just don't forget that this is, after all, a christian nation.

The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness

but god didn't let anyone KNOW about this right (it was men, and most of 'em didn't ascribe this right as coming from god, it came from us and we have to assert it to get it and keep it)

Americans welcome the best, the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes. But they also welcome the least.

except for cell phones.  well, i guess that is what's meant by the least.

The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America.

that's good that the symbol welcomes you.  because apparently a lot of the people want to build a wall to keep you out.

So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of the world.

this is why the rest of the world has issues with us.  the history of the world starts before 1776.  and stalin was our ally, for chissakes.  american must have comprised some miniscule percentage of the numbers of people that these three can claim responsibility for.  but they were all after us, of course.  sheesh.

But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American

why wouldn't they be dutch?  the dutch proclaimed their independence two hundred years before us. and they fought for 80 years for it.  and they aren't even on the list of peoples who can be americans.

btw.  i think america has been, is, and can be still, a great country.  but jingoistic proclamations of greatness and disinformation don't convince anyone that isn't already convinced.  so who the heck are these dopey, thoughtless rants written for... anyone that would talk about american indians as some kind of postive reflection of america has got to be retarded.  you got to know when to fold 'em.

well our forefathers was predomintanly Christian.....and Godly men.......who used the Holy Bible as a means to design our independence and our constitution............so ALL men, will no-longer have to be submissive to the Government because of their religious beliefs......and that included ALL religions......the King used to rule religious practices........hence, why they came here, to escape....that does not mean we are a Christian Nation, but we have a right to live our lives and elect leaders who ARE Christian........and base principals of our laws on those beliefs.

at least it is clear as snot to me............

so you concede all the other comments as accurate.  and actually you agree with me on the one you posted as well (it's ok to be another religion, but don't forget who brung you to the dance, and who is really in charge [are you really concerned that you might no be "allowed" to elect a christian?]).  so do you think you might read a little more carefully in the future and make sure that what you are posting actually supports the point you are trying to make?

not sure what the heck you mean, or you just don't understand.............A Christian leadership would not tarnish any other religion.........that is what the secular crowd want's to think...........that we WANT to rid the world of other religions by laws..........that is not true.........I don't care if you want to worship Charles Manson.........but, I DO believe that this country would be better off if we let Americans be Americans.........and if that happens to be Christian favored, then have the right to express it so.........without being chatised for having God in the Pledge or a prayer in a classroom or 10 commandments posted on a courthouse........those are part of out heritage....

now, here we go again, with another can of worms........

this is my take on the way things SHOULD be..

Henry: i understand where you are coming from and  perhaps what you intend to convey:

you are a Christian and don't judge anyone else's religion by your belief system. but you believe Christianity should rule the Nation by reason of being the majority religion.

by that ideology are you also saying; you have no problem with other races/ nationalities  in this country but white America should rule because they are the majority population?

why do you automaticly think WHITE america.........a hugh number of blacks are Christian, so are the Asians...Christians are all races and creeds....

I'm say, we have a form of democracy where we vote on our politicians to make laws..........I prefer to vote for a politician that is Christian, but, I'm not inclusive to that though....I think there are many non-religious people out there with terrific morals and values...

a day may come when Christians no longer are the majority and we will have NO say or fight left.........

I do not want Evangelicals or Christian Extremists running............I want, your everyday, joe blow, who is a practicing Christian, who loves his neighbors kind of guy representing me in public office..........and I feel that is what MOST Christians want today.

it was a correlation.

WHY must everyone defend race? each time i mention it.

DIALOGUE  NOT DEBATE!

i am not a christian nor any other practicing religion. yet i don't care what religion my representatives practice. that is a PRIVATE DECISION in my opinion.

point being:

if the majority rule stance is practiced with religion in politics.

i understand your point........people on here have been yelling that at me for a long time now...........and i understand the point.......

it is just my personal opinion, that this country would be better off, if TRUE Christianity was the practiced norm............the love your neighbor as you love yourself...........the fruits of the spirit............raising kids the way God tells us to.........being married with commentment..........

and, this is where I know i will lose most of you...........honor God ...that is just the way I feel..........

and to comprimise my beliefs because i might offend someone or because i am not being tolerant or politically correct or whatever you want to call it...........well, i just CANT do it.

RIGIDITY IS FINE FOR SELF DISCIPLINE. YET I DON'T SEE IT AS VERY SHARING CONCERNING OTHERS.

i have no problem with your personal ideology.

what about the rights of the ideologies of others

my question;

from my teachings being a christian is about LOVE OF OTHERS--NOT BEING JUDGMENTAL OF OTHERS AND SHARING

AM I WRONG IN MY UNDERSTANDING?

No, but, there is also right and there is wrong..........there is good and there is evil..........I'm not saying in anyway shape or form are we to be judgmental when it comes to peoples faith or lack of............but, accepting wrong-doings and evil ways, just to be tolerant or not offending someone .... I think is wrong...........you can love people, but not like their ways.............personally, I think homosexuality is not acceptable lifestyle............I do not hate them because of their choice.....but, I do not have to accept it as an okay thing....I actually have a friend who is gay....and, I consider him a great friend of mine.............he would do anything for me, if I needed it and vise/versa.......and he knows my feelings about his lifestyle..........

I think abortions are wrong..........but, I do not hate a person who has decided to do this........I can still love them...and pray for them...I can try to convince a young person into having the baby, give it up for adoption....

I think God is clear about certain choices He prefers us to make.........but, they are still our choices.......there are right ones and wrong ones........imo.
does this make sense?

i am not questioning your beliefs. I also have my standards of beliefs. but i don't expect my belief system to rule the lives and beliefs of others. i am open to the beliefs of others. i just don't want theirs imposed upon me any more than you do.

what i perceived from your post is :

ALL AMERICA  SHOULD BE RULED BY CHRISTIAN EDICT AND DETERMINATION.

all i am saying is:

as a non-christian----I----WHOLE HEARTEDLY--- disagree

why should i, a non-christian, be judged and ruled by christians. when i was born with supposed freedom of religion and CHOICE
