I use to make my daughter's halloween costumes every year.  The first time she was Rainbow Bright (56 pieces to the pattern)  I was sewing as we walked out the door.  We did Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, Sleeping Beauty, trapeze artist, of course she went as Madonna one year.  I use to enjoy making the costumes.  This year I made a costume for my grandson, he was a spider.

That's so cool. I bet he had a blast. I took a picture tonight and I'm not sure how it's going to turn out, but one house had the entire front shrubbery (a lot) covered w/the gauzy spider web looking stuff and this HUGE spider laying on top w/it's legs moving. OMG! it was great! Thankfully it wasn't real. LOL

Sounds pretty awesome, Mojo...and Moondance, too! I've asked my husband for a sewing machine -- I'd really like to practice & try to make those types of things.

My cheerleader was a success! We had a great time running around our neighborhood. The little ballerina on the other than only made it to the first house & she decided she didn't dig it. So, daddy took her home. Maybe next year.

I had 90 some trick or treaters last night! (Lured to my house by spooky musiic/halloween sounds blaring from the upstairs windows and a few strategically placed strobe lights to make the house look like it was possessed!)

"That's awesome, Gryphon! I really miss handing out candy...but, the children will only be young for awhile so don't wanna miss trick or treatin' either.

You know, I was thinking about that just yesterday. I love handing it out, but if I actually had a kid of my own, I wouldnt be able to.

We live in a very small amish town and we usually have our trick or treating the night before Halloween. We handed out candy and counted as the night went on....in two hours, we had 294 kids!!! It was crazy!

We went into a bigger town last night to a friends house and helped hand out candy there. We saw one little girl that came walking up with blue jeans and a sweatshirt on. All over the sweatshirt hung the little miniature cereal boxes with plastic knives stuck through them. I asked her what she was dressed as, because, for the life of me, I couldn't figure it out. She was a "cereal killer".....lmao! I thought it was great!

LOL!!! That is great!!

Similar idea...at a party I was at last year, a lady was dressed all in white, and pinned all over her were white cards that said stuff like, "Oh I love your new hairdo!" "Of course you were the first!" and "No, that doesnt make your butt look big"

She was "Little White Lies!"

Sunny, I had to take sewing in 7th grade and almost failed it....I hated it.  When my daughter was young though, for some reason I was convinced that a good mother sewed.  So that is when I decided to start again and the first project was the Rainbow bright costume with 56 pieces, I kept trying to convince her to be a nice straight crayon but she wouldn't have it, she had to be Rainbow Bright.  It's kind of like riding a bike,....it comes back to you.  I still have the sewing machine my mother bought used when I had to take sewing in 7th grade.  It is now about 37 years old and I have it cleaned every now and then ....works better than the new ones do ...IMO.

I wasnt' overly fond of the sewing home ec class either...but I remember it vividly! Maybe I should ask my aunt for the 'ole Singer back....

I am always impressed by people who can sew. You must be very patient.
