Its that time of year...time to pull out the extension cords, get out those boxes in the attic and start the holiday decorating.
Im amazed how many people are pulling out all the stops for Halloween this year. Ten years ago, Christmas was the only holiday to get any decorating play...but now, it seems like every major holiday requires a redecoration of home and lawn!

What are some of your favorite holiday decorations/traditions? What are some examples you've seen that just go tooooooo far?

Sunny

I'll jump in later...but, off hand, I heard on the radio the other day that it's projected Americans will spend a projected 10 Million Dollars on Halloween this year. That includes decorations, costumes, and candy.

Now THAT's CRAZY! Wow.

Gryphon

Its nuts! When I was a kid, it might have been a couple pumpkins,  but in my neighborhood there are a dozen houses that are fully pimped with goblins and witches and light up ghosts.

Mr442

I think some of these folks light up their homes year round just so they don't have to put up and take down the lights.

Put 'em up once, change a few bulbs and a couple of lawn figures as the holidays change, and you are good to go all year long.

Well, it's finally realized---I've just witnessed the TACKIEST lawn decoration of all time!
It is a nativity scene--about 5 feet high--featuring Disney characters--excuse me while I'll go BARF!    :-\

Actually, Daffy Duck as a shepherd was what really got me............ :spooked:

Wasn't Daffy a Warner Bros. character?

Probably mistook Pluto for Daffy.

Or else, Bugs took a wrong turn at "Al-ba-koik-ee."

Whatever--I just gotta get the balz to take a picture!!  They have some rough looking mangy mutts hanging around so that is keeping me from taking the chance--maybe a nice Thanksgiving day carcass will do the trick!

So theres a house in my neighborhood thats already done their Christmas decorating. They started on Friday with some nice garlands on the front porch and wreaths in the windows...looked very nice.
Then on Saturday they put out a HUGE inflatable snowman...a HUGE inflatable reindeer, plus a blow up santa and a giant snowglobe...just a lil overboard I think.

followsthewolf

Mostly, those big inflatables don't do too well for Christmas decorations around here.

We generally get a couple of good windstorms.

If they don't float off like big-a$$ technicolor nightmares, they end up shredding themselves after bobbing back and forth like an oversized speed bag being worked by an invisible giant.

LMAO!
thats funny...
last year this same persons inflatables were fairly ruined by an ice storm...but I guess insurance covered them.

I'm going to do a Clark Griswold this year.....my wife has always wanted me to do lights, everywhere, thing on our house...and I usually just kind of blow it off, and it never gets done.....but, this year, I'm goint to illuminate my @ss off this year, while she is at work, and make this the
