Lets not convolute the question.....

Did it start by accident?

Did it start by intelligent design?

Did it start by aliens?

Does it make a difference?

Well, I honestly don't think anyone knows for sure, but for the sake of discussion, I'd like to ask you a question. Define "life".

No Henry, you asked the original question and I'm clarifying.  I need to know what you consider "life". What was living?

I wasn't yelling  THIS IS YELLING! But I don't like to do that it hurts my eyes. ;D

I think the origin of mankind is an easier answer since I don't think the first life on earth was mankind. I think it can be traced back farther than even the plant life. I think it can be traced back to the elements and so therefore mankind is all about chemistry.

so are you saying that some chemicals got mixed together somehow..........and man was developed?.......

serious question.....

A chemical reaction? Biogenesis? sure I think that is the most likely explanation.

Where did the chemical reaction originate?.....how was it created?..........was it always around?...........let me ask...when did it ALL start? and how?

Is it REALLY unreasonable to conclude that there was an intelligent designer?

awol

here's an experiment for ya, hank.  you can do this in your own home.

get some dirty dishes - lasagna pans work best.  put 'em in a sink full of warm water, preferably near a window.  now go on vacation for about a month.

when you get back, tell us where life comes from.

so awol, you are saying we came from garbage?..  THAT is the best argument I have heard yet...........If not from God then it's GARBAGE...   gotcha... ;)

not exactly.

what i am saying is that conditions are perfect for life (as we know it) on this planet.  lot's 'o water and sunshine.  all it takes are a few chemical compounds to swirl together for a billion years or so, and viola'.

Locutus

Why do you think he did?  If god created all of this just for us, there is certainly an excessive amount of places in his creation where we can't live.  Last I checked, this was the only place.  Also, next time something like Shoemaker-Levy 9 rolls around, and the odds aren't in Earth's favor, we might not be able to live here either.

can't speak to that.  nobody (living) can, with any certainty.
