FlawsLikeRain

Apnea

Still there are days
when you echo like a broken string
wrapped around the neck of
gas station angels
prostrating at my feet
begging "please don't go.
Please, don't go".

There are nights
when never dreaming again
would be better
than the acrid taste of
another nightmare at
your heavy hands.

Please don't
let me fall asleep.

FlawsLikeRain

Of small, cafe colored hands
with tarantula fingers that
gnaw at pounding, ticking rooms
where the sign reads no vacancy
Of motherlands
with foreign tongues
and oranges that give
gnarled old men
a reason to wake up
Of fresh made tortillas
shaped like Florida and Mickey Mouse
that burn the roofs of our mouths
leaving skin dangling like the participles
of our too often interrupted thoughts
Of broken fuse boxes
and waking in the night
to sirens wailing and the smell of natural gas
Of empty pantries and empty stomachs
my last paycheck covered with
a thick layer of mold

I no longer dare to dream.

In A Mist

Hope life got better for you. :'(
