I say this, because, I don't see hardly any talk about obama and his pastor on here............

I may be wrong, but, it sure SEEMS to me, that IF, this would have been McCains personal pastor claim hatred towards blacks and the racial overtones that THIS guy has been spewing.........it would be ALL the talk on this forum.......

maybe I'm wrong.........but, I'm pretty sure I'm right on this.....

Ive been seeing a lot of talk in the blogosphere about some of McCains "spiritual leaders" too...
I think our group here is smarter than the average bear and wont assign Pastor Wrights words to Obama or the words of McCains spiritual endorsers to him.

but, the KEY difference IS, Obama's Pastor is his personal pastor and has been for 20 years....he goes to that Church regulary..He was married by this pastor and his kids was baptized by this pastor...

McCain..has me Hagee on one occassion.....he does not attend that church........It would be different if Obama had a kook like this endorse him...and Obama had no real relationship with him..........but this Wright guy is a mentor of Obamas and a personal friend...I have read that Wright is part of his advisory staff....

I don't think the average bear thing applies to this topic...

I think he stepped down from whatever position he had...

I agree with you overall.

But then, I look at my own friends, most of whom are kooks in one way or another, and I dont share their views on everything.

I can agree with that..........but, did you ask you "kook" friends to marry you or baptise your kids?..........I dunno.....I know this IS a political tactic..to run with this and create as much harm to Obama as possible..........but, at the same time, I think, this does reflect upon the charactor of obabam.........he has chosen to associate himself with this church for 20 years now........and no mater HOW you slice it this pastor is a raciest and a bigot...........and it DOES deserve a look...

I agree with you. Ive long said that if a white candidate were a member of a church that was so...well, "white", they would be eaten alive.
I'm not sure if it speaks well of Obama, or just speaks to his inexperience, that all we can dig up to make him look bad is what people he knows have done or said...we can't find anything on him personally.

You are right HH.

Obama has a lot of explaining to do.  This IS an issue..  He was a member of a racist, America hating church for 20 years.  I think this matters in one running for President of that same America.

He will try to explain tomorrow.  If he pleads ignorance, I'm not buying.

This post is a prime example of what I pointed to in my area, full of empty assertions and no evidence/fact.

Where's the proof:

1. Mr. Obama has anything to explain.

2. That this is a real issue rather than propaganda being spewed by racists and political shills.

3. The proof the church is both 'racist' and 'America hating'.

1. Why should we see such 'talk'?

2. I jes' love the creative work with speculation and assertion, i.e.: 'seems', 'if', 'would', 'personal', 'hatred', 'racial overtones' etc..

3. Followed by a self-serving conclusion.

Racist - hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

If you accept the above definitiion and you listen to the Rev. Wright speak, there is no doubt that he is a rascist and not a Christian. A Christian is to walk in love - love for your neighbor as yourself.

Society has grown to believe that racism only exist when white people discriminate against blacks. Reality tells us that this is not the case and Rev. Wright is a perfect example of such. The hatred spew from all racists is frightening. There are racists from all walks of life. This is very eye-opening and hopefully educational for our entire society.

So what does my prior post have to do with Obama?

2 Timothy 4:3 says "For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

Psalms 26:4-5 says "I do not sit with the deceitful, nor do I associate with hypocrites. I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked."

Proverbs 22:24-25  says " Do not make friends with the hot-tempered, do not associate with those who are easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared."

These are a few Christian verses that leads me to question that as Rev. Wright states his racist remarks from the pulpit, what is his hatred doing to his flock? Those in his congregation can be easily led astray and since one of the members of Rev. Wright's congregations is Obama, a Presidential candidate, then there is reason for concern.

Here's a perfect song about racism by the Black Eyed Peas from a couple of years ago: "Where is the Love"

What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)
Life is a test,
Life is a trust.

The Rev. Wright/Obama 'racist' issue can easily be seen as political shillery, which if not fully racist, damn close.

Now, for those of you who wish to continue spewing that sort of crap:

1. How many of you are of the American family of the negroid race?

2. How many of you live, or have lived, in any American negroid enclaves?

3. How many of you have enjoined in close, or even any, associations with American negroids?

If not, how in the world can you even begin to think you have any insight into, or perspective on, American negroid culture or life experiences from which to determine that either Rev. Wright, himself, and his words are racist or that Mr. Obama is by religious association?

Caucasiods with such limited, or no, experience with those things wouldn't have a clue...

...but, apparently, that doesn't stop them from flapping their damn gums as if they did. ; )
