Funny, I think the same thing, but only I see it as the liberals who are the one's being uneducated voters...

Oh, the irony...

QuoteI know we have dumbasses on both sides of the fence, but it clearly in my eyes, see way more "lazy" voters on the left....(those who never take time to actually learn about the candidates, but just listen to the "talking points".)  They are voting for the hand that feeds them....such as those on food stamps, those who have came in here illegally, those who are on disability (and don't get me wrong, many need it, but many are on it, because they can).......THAT is what I see that vote, that scares me.

Hey, let's not leave out the losers who continually spend money they don't have and then default on their debts that everyone else then have to pay for!
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

It might depend on the library and town. I know several bigger libraries quit carrying microfilm since the internet. I don't know why but two towns that I know of put all the microfilm on the internet because they needed the room that the microfilm was kept in for other things.

I don't know what bigger libraries you are talking about, but NYC, Chicago, and Philly libraries all have microfilm machines (some are now called microforms-that's what we have at our library). A lot of universities also have them.  Here's a few things the NYC library has in their microfilm collection:

"The Microforms Section, Room 100 at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, provides access to the microform resources of the General Research Division. This collection of over 350,000 microfilm reels and 3,000,000 microfiche includes many valuable research collections covering a variety of humanities and social sciences subjects, such as Classical Studies, History, Literature, Philosophy, Latin American Studies, Women's History, and much more. Types of materials include microfilm copy of 12,000 periodical backfiles, collections of antiquarian monographs, historical pamphlets, incunabula, and many unique archives of diverse national and international organizations.

Major collections of historical interest are the Newspaper Collection, backfiles of over 700 local, national and international newspapers; historical collections of New York City telephone directories (1878>), United States telephone directories (1976>), and United States city directories (1860>).

Current issues of unbound periodical titles in 22 languages from 128 countries are also accessible in Room 100. The Microform Reading Room is Wi-Fi enabled."

The internet doesn't have everything.  Our local newspaper only goes back to 1987 or 1986 on the internet.  We need the microfilm to go back past those dates.  And as you can see from what the NYC library carries, it's not just newspapers, but a host of items.

Oh believe me, I am a huge fan of libraries, worked in one all the way from elementary school as a kid being an aide all the way to college as a student to pay for my education. I love spending hours and I mean hours at the library! I don't know that I should have said bigger cities but I know some have done away with microfilm because they needed the room or space as least our library here did. I kind of hated it because it was always neat to look things up that way.
Our kids love the library! They check out books, of course, but movies, play games and other stuff they love.  :smitten:

Here's an interesting article on why microfilm hasn't gone away.

http://newsbreaks.infotoday.com/NewsBreaks/Microfilm-Still-Matters-in-the-Digital-Age-94867.asp
Thanks, Locutus. I called our library and asked about where and why the microfilm was no longer handy and they informed me they had moved it. They didn't bother to let anyone know it was moved to another room and I said well one of the librarian clerks or helpers told me it was gone when I went down to look something up. I got curious after Abby had put the information on there so thought I would ask why. Now granted. Kentucky can be dumb some days and even dumber when you tell people things are gone and they aren't. Glad I was wrong on that! Or misinformed.  I assumed and we all know what that means that when I was told that microfilm was being discontinued. So my bad for not looking into further.

Oh, I wasn't trying to be mean by posting that.  It was just more of an FYI.  ;D

That's okay, I look at it that someone gave me misinformation at our library.

To start, I am not a citizen of Anderson, Indiana.  But, Anderson is my county government seat.  Over the years Anderson leaders have done some pretty stupid things like spending millions of dollars on the damn Anderson Indian's Wigwam.  Yes, dollars and dollars throwed into one big, passed it's time, worn out money pit.

Yet they will let one of the most life saving swimming pool be closed at the YMCA.     70 years ago I was taught to swim there, 64 years ago my wife was taught to swim there and 44 years ago my son was taught to swim there.     Over the years I know of no one drowning from my little town or my wife's little town.  The YMCA has over the years have offered a great service to the Madison county kids, saving many lives by teaching the kids how to swim.    :smitten:

Yet the city of Anderson, Indiana will let the pool be closed down and still put dollar after dollar in the the Damn Anderson Indian Wigwam.

I just read on a post on facebook of a friend of mine, he says to use some toothpaste on a bee sting.  He did it and swears by it....it relieved the stinging and itching.

Tobacco does the same; and I've got a nice wad of it on my eye right now!  :big grin:

About to go to the shower though, so I'll try the toothpaste thing as well. Got my eye swelled real good though.

But these are honey-bees and more of them than I have seen all year. So I'm putting off any further trimming of those particular bushes until the blossoms leave them. When they're finished with their work, I'll do mine. . .  Damn few of the around these days and I want them to reproduce!

I've got two of those bushes and they are swarming them both. I'll leave them to it.

Baking soda also works but I remember having tobacco juice from an old farmer put on a wasp sting one time when a kid.
