For the price I am paying for diesel fuel, one would think they'd do a better job of winterizing that shit. . . but of course they don't anymore. Now I am stuck with gelled fuel until the fucking spring thaw!

That certainly sucks.

Get some anti-jell fluid and push it into a warm garage and un-jell it.     I know about a diesel jelling up in very cold weather.   It happened to me at the Ford plant parking lot and we  pulled it in to the garage there and un-jelled  it.

So after dumping a container of sea foam into the tank, followed by some more kerosene, I put an extra large tarp I have over the bed of the truck and enclosed the entire thing; making a tent underneath it.

I then fired up a small propane heater I had for camping, and placed it under the drive train, pointing toward the metal plate that I discovered covers the fuel tank (plastic) from the passenger side. I then placed a 300w magnetic heater I just bought onto the fuel filter for about an hour, then moved it to the metal plate as well. I waited another 1.5 hours, during which I went and bought a fuel filter for the damned truck.

After that, I opened the vent on the fuel filter housing, figuring that maybe the damned thing ran dry when it was running and shutting down. I also figure I'd be able to determine if my fuel was gelled this way as well. I used the hand pump to prime the filter housing, and got diesel fuel out after about three cycles.

I hoped this was a good sign, so I got inside and turned the key, and it started right up.  :hamster: :hamster: :hamster: :hamster:

I then took off the tent, and pulled out the propane heater and shut it off. I am leaving the 300w magnetic heater on the tank plate while it sits in the driveway. I also am leaving it run for awhile, and will drive it in about an hour or two, just to be sure.

Finally, I dumped an additional 8 oz of power serve anti-gel and lubricity formula into the tank as well. I figure that after it runs for an hour or two, it ought to have plenty of that crap throughout the system to ensure I don't have a repeat of this bullshit. . . (I bought extra and will add each time I fill up while in the cold season.)

I've owned this truck for 12 years and never had my tank jell up like it did this time. Live and learn- NEVER trust the oil companies to do the right thing.

AND, before I could do any of this, I also had to work on my wife's car, which would not start either. . . Fuel filter was plugged so I had to crawl underneath it and chafe the damned thing. . . (Fortunately I happened to have one from the last time it acted up.)

Seriously!  What kind of fuck stick would do this?

CUDJOE KEY, Fla. (AP) — A marine construction company that uses the pelican in its logo is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case of injured brown pelicans in the Florida Keys.

Officials say more than a dozen brown pelicans have recently been found with their pouches slit, causing them to starve and die.

The Miami Herald reports Dock and Marine Construction Corp. is offering the reward.

In a statement company president Glen Larson said the person who inflicted such harm on the pelicans "should cut out their own tongues to understand the pain they have inflicted."

Sickos who do things like that to animals are the same ones who usually abuse kids!

I have observed throughout my life, that kids who are mean to animals or rude to smaller kids, grow up to be assholes.  Kids who love animals and are sweet to smaller kids, grow up to be decent citizens.
Just an observation by the hawk. ;)
