Once again consumers are being raped by corporate Amerika.

This time DirectTV and central Indiana NBC affiliate WTHR are at odds over, what else, money. WTHR is endlessly spamming Facebook and its news programming with segments encouraging DTV customers to call them and complain about losing WTHR at midnight this Sunday. Of course DTV is remaining silent about it all.

The reality is, WTHR is charging for something that consumers can get free via the airwaves, and they want an increase. (Could it be because they stole that Kravitz character from the INDYSTAR perhaps?). Certainly if they get an increase out of DTV, consumers will not see a drop in the endless commercials they air.

And DTV is just as bad, for if WTHR does drop out, does anyone reading this think DTV customers will see a drop in their monthly premiums? (Hell no).

The bottom line? BOTH brands are going to take a HUGE hit in the central Indiana area. Consumers will just switch to another channel, and eventually to another TV service provider, (or none at all), as the lineups continue to decline; especially within the local line-up area.

This is all bullshit!!!

They are saying the same thing here that DirectTV is going to quit broadcasting end of the week on channel 12. We switched to Dish because every time we turned around DirectTV was going up.

I am on the verge of dropping Comcast, except for internet only.  Getting a digital antenna. (you can get around 20 channels) Getting an Apple TV box ($99 and no subscription).  This along with Netflix ($8 per month).

You don't know how bad the digital air channels are Hawk :turk:  I want you to go to the air channels and improve your mind with "GREAT" television.       Like I have said many times, Hawk :turk:  you don't know shit and you're suppose to have advanced education.  :haha:  :haha:

Let me know how that works out for you. I am on the verge of doing something similar because I am tired of all this horse crap. REAL tired of it.

I went through all of the digital crap, different modules, special digital antennas, called in a "a TV antenna expert" :haha: at $100 per hour, bought one of his digital antennas and still couldn't get all of the channels.  I would need a antenna rotor to home in all of the stations in Indianapolis.

Also if you like old sitcoms, religious stations, old reruns, you'll love digital air channels.   :puke:  I gave up and bought another Direct TV box.

Oh another bitch of mine on all TV programs, 7 minutes of show and 7 minutes of commercials.  Remember when a commercial lasted only 3 minutes, it won't be long when we have 3 minutes of the show and 10 minutes of commercials        99.9% of the things they advertise is something I don't want or need.  :groan:  :knife:

And it fades to black. . .  :roll eyes:

. . . threatening to deny DIRECTV customers and some of its most loyal viewers living in Indianapolis, Columbus and the surrounding communities access to its stations unless they pay more than a 400 percent mark-up just to receive the same CBS or NBC shows that remain available over the air for free," DirecTV spokesman Tom Tryer wrote Sunday in a statement. "We will always work to protect our customers and prevent them from enduring any unnecessary interruptions, no matter how brief."

http://www.indystar.com/story/news/2014/08/31/wthr-directv-approach-midnight-deadline-blackout/14907061/

And the above link cost me 1 of 5 stories I am allowed on INDYSTAR before it too is "blacked out" to me unless I subscribe to their digital edition. . .

Now why the hell would I want to do that? There isn't a damned thing on that web site that I cannot get elsewhere. . .

Let these damned money grabbers sink to nothingness; don't pay them!

DISPATCH VIDEO STATEMENT

Dispatch Video is denying DIRECTV customers and some of its most loyal viewers access to WTHR in Indianapolis and WBNS in Columbus unless they pay more than a 400 percent mark-up just to receive the same CBS or NBC shows that remain available over the air for free. We will always work to protect our customers and prevent them from enduring any unnecessary interruptions, no matter how brief. We appreciate their patience since it will have a direct impact on their bill. Despite Dispatch's intentional blackout, NFL and college football fans can still see the season's first few weeks uninterrupted over-the-air and often online at NBCSports.com, and the vast majority of CBS' or NBC's fall series won't premiere for several more weeks.
FAQ
Why have WTHR or WBNS left my channel line-up?
The station's owner, Dispatch Video, is denying DIRECTV permission to offer either WTHR or WBNS unless we commit our local customers to pay a more than 400 percent mark-up just to have the same NBC or CBS shows others can still get for free. We apologize for this inconvenience, no matter how brief, but your patience has a direct impact on your bill.
With the new NFL and college football seasons beginning, will I miss any big games?
No. All of the games remain available on free, over-the-air, digital broadcast television. The NFL season begins Thursday with NBC's primetime telecast of the Green Bay Packers and defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, and NBC Sports streams its NFL games online too. Nearly every digital TV set has its own built-in turner to receive off-air signals, so all you need to do is turn off your DIRECTV receiver and tune your digital TV into the same channel position as your local Dispatch station. That means channel 10 for WBNS in Columbus and channel 13 for WTHR in Indianapolis. It's a small inconvenience, but your patience has a direct impact on your bill since you can help prevent Dispatch from intentionally forcing you to miss a big game just to drive up your own bills in the future.
Will my TV be able to get a clear over-the-air digital signal?
Most customers typically receive a crisp, over-the-air digital signal. The only major reason you wouldn't is if Dispatch built its transmitters on the other side of a topographical obstruction like a mountain range or other major impediment that could block reception to your home. Otherwise, you should be fine. You can also boost your digital reception with a small and inexpensive digital antenna available at most local electronics stores. For those who can't get the over-the-air signal, it's possible you could receive an alternate NBC or CBS station. If you are eligible, we will add it automatically. Our customers in Zanesville, Ohio will automatically receive the CBS affiliate from Cincinnati, and those living in Lafayette, Indiana will get NBC flagship WNBC from New York for as long as Dispatch tries to deny them its local stations.
What about my favorite NBC or CBS series coming back this fall?
There are more ways to get CBS and NBC series than ever before even though we're still weeks away from most premieres. CBS won't debut any of its fall shows until Sept. 21 and NBC won't premiere any of its own series any earlier except for "The Biggest Loser" on Sept. 11. While all the shows remain available over-the-air, CBS and NBC make them available through CBS.com and NBC.com too, typically with little to no delay. They've also created new mobile apps for smartphones and tablets too like "CBS," "NBC" and "NBC Sports Live" available for free download on iTunes and other sources. CBS and NBC make most shows available on Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Roku, X Box One and iTunes, too.
If Dispatch denies me WTHR or WBNS, can't DIRECTV just give me another NBC or CBS station from a nearby city?
U.S. law prevents that in all but a few circumstances. Fortunately for our customers in Zanesville, we can bring in another CBS station. The same is true for all of our customers in Lafayette where we'll be able to provide another NBC station there. We're unable to provide that same opportunity for all of our Indianapolis or Columbus customers simply because current law won't allow for it. But because so many stations owners like Raycom continue to intentionally black out or antagonize the same public they're specifically licensed to serve, Congress is already considering different ways to end these unnecessary blackouts once and for all. As far as we're concerned, it cannot happen soon enough.
Less is More
Fewer people watch shows on local stations than ever before, but broadcasters continue to demand everyone pay more to get the few shows they do watch. DIRECTV must have their permission to broadcast their programming, so if stations can't get whatever they want, they deliberately sideline their signal so nobody can see anything. Here are just a few recent examples of stations, licensed to serve the public, who deliberately nixed their communities.

I don't know about you good people, but I am feed up with the commercials on television.      Seven minutes of show and seven minutes of commercials.  About stuff I already have, stuff I don't need or want.      So sick of Flo and her imaginary insurance store that I'd like to stick my hands through the television and throttle her and other bad things.   :toilet: :hanged: :behead: :chair: :kick: :smash: :skull: :devil4: :dig: :groan:

The damn lizard selling his insurance.  What I would like to see is the General run his damn red car over him.      I thought there was a law that the commercials couldn't be any louder than the show.  Wrong!     Commercial time and the sound about deafens  you.  :@#%&: :@#%&: :dam:  Is there going to be any hope for us.  NO!  This is a capitalist country and business and corporatons can shove anything down your throat.

Okay, it is really getting pathetic.  Why is it so hard to find a candidate to be POTUS, without being related to a previous POTUS.

I see Jeb Bush is thinking about it.
Of course Hillary is more than likely going to run.
Now, I see Jason Carter, the grandson of Jimmy, is setting his sights on the WH.

It would be nice to see both parties come up with someone who has NO political ties to anyone.

I nominate Elizabeth Warren, Sr. U.S. Senator, Massachusetts. Yes, she's a Democrat, and, unless somebody comes up with something bad about her, she is as close as possible to being what this country desperately needs without being declared a Saint.  But she said yesterday that she will NOT be running.

Hint: she's a lawyer with a heart. She grew up poor.
