I'll remember you said that when you lose control on the icy surface of one of those things one winter and end up in a pond. . .

I have lost control of my car no more that 4 times in my 50 years of driving on ice.  As a kid I and my friends spent hours on icy parking lots trying to turn our cars around 360 degrees.  Only got that done 3 or 4 times even at 50 miles per hour.

And just how many of these ponds are there next to roads compared to lakes, rivers and creeks with bridges.

As for myself, I have no problem with roundabouts.  If you pratice what you do when you're riding your motorcycle.  You watch what the other drivers are doing, there is no reason to have a problem.     Just saying.

I haven't ended up in a pond (yet) but I'll be the first to admit that I am one of those people who might. As long as I'm in familiar territory, even here in the D.C.metro area, I can go on automatic pilot most of the time as long as I remember not to slip into day-dreamer mode. Even then, I sometimes come up to a traffic light and suddenly realize my mind was elsewhere and think, "Where the heck am I!?"

AWWW Libby, don't worry about it, you're just like the other millions of WOMEN drivers.  :haha:

WTF, WTF, WTF.  The largest makers of organic peanut butter has Salmonella in it.  The FDA shut the company down over the Salmonella contamination. :puke:

Don't these corporate cheapskates know that Salmonella is worse that a little pesticide on the peanuts, that a little pesticide can be washed off.

Just how dirty was this peanut factory.     I just can't wait to run out and get some pesticide free peanut butter with a little Salmonella in it.  :puke:

You didn't go there did you Troll?  I wonder what Sandy Eggo will say when she sees that comment.  :rotfl:

Hostess Brands Inc. plans to ask for a judge's approval Thursday to give its top executives bonuses totaling up to $1.8 million as part of its wind-down plans.

The maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos says the incentive pay is needed to retain the 19 managers during the liquidation process, which could take about a year. Two of those executives would be eligible for additional rewards depending on how efficiently they carry out the liquidation.

Hostess is also seeking final approval for its wind-down, which was approved on an interim basis last week.

The process includes the quick sale of its brands, which also include Wonder Bread. Hostess says it has received a flood of interest in the brands.

. . . And another thing. Do you really need all those congressional aides and personal assistants? NO! Let's put all of them onto the unemployment roles immediately, and then YOU will be required to do your own research, answer the calls and requests of your constituency, and do some actual work for the money you are paid.

How about each one of you take a 30% pay cut like your policies enacted over the last couple of decades has forced upon the rest of us? How about your only retirement source being a 401k that the American public does NOT contribute to until after you've been in congress for 5 or more years, and then only at a less than 5% match for every dollar you contribute from your pay checks yourselves?

Oh, and no more "congressional vehicles" either. You want a car and driver, then you had better be prepared to shell out the money for it. No taking it home either unless you pay the high deductible required to insure that vehicle. And while we're at it you are going to have to pay a "gas surcharge" for use of the vehicle and taking it home.

Stamps? Pay for them like we do.

No more "lunch meetings" either. It's okay to do that but we aren't paying for that shit. (And say goodbye to that tax deduction).

Oh, and those junket thingies you are so fond of taking; buh-bye. You want to go to Israel on a fact finding mission? Go ahead! But you had better take vacation time and pay for everything out of your own pocket.

And while we're talking about vacations. Heres the new eligibility scale:

  • 1 year or less - NO days
  • 2 to 5 years - 5 Days
  • 5 -10 years - 10 days
  • 10 years and above - 15 days

Absentee Policy

Each day of work missed results in the accrual of 8 points. Partial days missed = 5 points

24 points = written warning
32 points = censure
40 points = performance improvement plan
48 points = termination and a mandatory special election to fill your seat.
