I think normally when you say somewhere is your town you either grew up there or live there.

I agree, but I was speaking in general terms....I am proud of Indy, and I work there, and spend much of my time and money there...I really didn't expect anyone to make a big deal about it.

When are you going to move there and save the time, gas and repairs on your car.  Or are  you under water on your home?

Nope, happily planted in a nice country home (undisclosed due to the crazy interactive nutjobs on here), livin the american dream.
My wife works in Madison Co...my kids go to school there.  I will comute with a smile on my face.

Now this is one thing I can agree with you on.  I had one of these wack jobs visit my town and look up my house and told me what it looked like here on the Zone.  It didn't scare me, but my wife sure didn't like it.

Also I wouldn't live in Indianapolis if they gave a home down there.  I also commuted for 38 years and sure put on some miles.  I had friends who live one the West side of Indianapolis and it took more time to drive to work than me.  I sure like my Mayberry type town.

And now religion wants to impose its will upon a woman's right to decide what she does or does not do with her body. . .

The Catholic Church is attempting to influence governmental policy on healthcare by objecting through the media about the coverage of birth control. . .

No, it's Obama telling the church they have to cover, in their insurance policies, something they don't believe in which is getting into church business which is against the constitution...separation of church and state. Remember?  The government has no business interfering in church beliefs.

Then please tell churches to stop using their beliefs to interfere in government.  You can't have it both ways.

if a church employs people, it becomes an employer, not a religion.  the practice of their belief is religion.  but, as an employer, i would think that i would make the insurance plan i provided available to people who were offered jobs.  same as dental or optical insurance.  either i offer it or i dont.  that doesnt mean that people who work for them cant go buy contraceptives, but it does mean that they would understand that if they made that personal choice, they would have to pay for it themselves.  not really different than plastic surgery, weight loss surgery, trans sexual surgery. dont you think that birth control is a personal choice also? so sometimes personal choices are things we have to pay for.  i dont understand the whole entitlement scenario, we think we are entitled to all kinds of things, when the truth is, we are entitled to what we earn and buy.  and really and truly, the overall picture is frightening.  if we allow the government to force churches to buy into programs they dont feel are morally acceptable, are we opening a door that invites them further into the room?

The fact that they object to an aspect of a healthcare policy that is supposed to apply to everyone, just shows they not only do not have faith in their employees, but neither do they have trust in them.

Just because they work for a religious organization are they also required to attend church services too?

I suggest they keep their sermons confined to their pulpits, and exercise some trust in their respective congregations to "do as they say" and forego contraceptives.

This is bullshit, plain and simple.

If they want a say in government, then they need to pay taxes.

And churches have no business interfering in government business; but they do it all of the time!

As "employers" they are subject, or should be, to the same oversight as another business. If churches want a say in governance then shouldn't they be required to pay their fair share into the cost of said governance? But they don't. They don't even pay property taxes.

Churches getting into government is also against the constitution, but it has not stopped them has it!
