okay, I know I was supposed to go out job hunting and I didn't.  I think I only have to go to one place and I'll have a job, and I can check there later this evening.  Instead, I got a call from one of my sisters earlier. My dad went to the hospital to have a heart cath done.  They found blockage that they want to treat immediately so at 1pm today they took him to Indy by ambulance and at 4pm he's having stints (??) put in. I will be there with him during that time.
Looks like I've come full circle.

What a F'ing week end.  My father-in-law is in the hospital waiting to die, my brother-in-law is out of town, and Friday night was the wife's Xmas party with the new law firm she now works for in Indy.

By Friday evening it was apparent that the father-in-law was stable, so I headed to Indy to meet the wife for the party.  Had my son drive me up so he could drop me off and I'd drive back with the wife.  Cell phones on vibrate just in case, all went smooth.  Well, almost!

We had a good meal at the Rathskellar, stayed long enough to hear about three songs from the band and decided to make the 100 mile(longest route) drive back to the house.  We go out and our car is gone   I had parked in a lot that had a sign indicating $7 event parking, only problem was, there was no one there to take our money.  We had looked high and low before going inside, but did not see a soul.  I figured I could settle up when I came out.  Well, in the end, I was partly right.

We headed back inside for assistance and the lady in charge of the festivities went into action, she located the towing company and our car, took us to the towing lot and assisted us in getting it out.  All the while reminding these folks that we DID work for oneof the largest law firms inthe state and that they WOULD be hearing from them.  Don't know if it did any good, but we will find out later if anything is refunded.

Back home the next day we head to the hospital to check on the father-in-law.  Doc says he is getting worse and offered some options, one of which was to make him comfortable and let him go.  At this point the wife and I agree it would be best.  Then enters her brother, who unfortunately, has co-medical care with the wife.  (Wife had soul care responsibilties until she started in Indy and was unable to drop everything and run.)  He being the bible thumper full of guilt, now says that he cannot KILL his father.  This is in spite of what he had said the previous Wednesday about giving him one last chance then letting him go if it didn't work.  And this is also coming form the guy who only came around about 5 times a year from 1982 to 2006!

The wife and her brother end up in a not-so-pleasant discussion, before she told him what he could do and walked out.  Her dad is 99.9% gone, so she did not walk out on him as much as she dumped the problem in her brother's lap.  If he wants to run the show and totaly disreguard my wife's wishes, then he has got it all.  I'd prefer they find common ground, but too much bad history is in the way.

Sunday was pretty calm between rounds of the wife bitching about her brother.  After all this, I am glad to be an only child.

Wow, sounds like you're taking a somewhat stressful weekend in stride. Just the illness alone and the emotions that evokes is a high stress factor. Toss in the holidays and guilty family members and I don't know how you seem to have remained so calm.

I have ver specific instructions re: such an event for my family. Simply let me go or I promise I'll be back to haunt everyone of them and it won't be pretty.

LOL MsMojo, great threat!

442, sorry to hear of the stresses, got a few myself.  Fortunately, my father seems to be doing okay at the moment.   He had to have another surgery on Friday evening. His heart rate was irratic after the surgery to put in the stint, for his blockage.  So they ended up giving him a pacemaker.  I hope that this is something that keeps him around for awhile. But he's an active guy, running my grandmothers farm since she passed away.  I don't want him to think he has to give in and sell it now that he's had some heart surgery.  On top of that, he was also diagnosed as borderline diabetic, and they are trying to treat him without turning to insulin.  This is going to be fun getting him adjusted to a new diet. NOT!!
Looks like I've come full circle.

Pacemakers ore OK, the father-in-law has one.  He had to stay away from certain things with electrical energy fields, skill saw, chain saw, welding, and his Ford Ranger.  He fixed the Ranger with aluminum foil shields around the coil packs.  Before he did that, he couldn't get past 45 mph without the pacemaker going nuts!  His car didn't bother him, but the coil was further away on it.

Other than those few things, the pacemaker gave him many good years before the rest of him ground down.  I think your dad will do fine.

So did the father-in-law, but his son is refusing to honor the instructions in his living will.  Make sure you and your family are onthe same page with this stuff, or you can become a science project.

There's nothing wrong with your brother-in-law that a good whack or two on the nose wouldn't cure.
