And all the secular (non-xtian) traditions that were in place long before xtianity existed count for nothing?

Even if xtians commandeered them and hooked into them (Saturnalia, etc.) for the purpose of pushing the xtian religion, that means nothing? Just 'cuz NOW we want to ignore what came hundreds of years before xtianity even existed?

We are now to be sorry for xtians because of some perceived slight?

You're right on this one.  It's none of anyone's business what they call it.  Christmas or a Holiday.  But I bet Jesus wouldn't be happy that people are spending all of this money on junk.  Instead of on their knees worshipping him.  God on earth.  :pope:

Holy Crap, it's a CHRSTMAS miracle!!  Troll and I are in agreement on an issue!!!!!!!!!

My only problem is, that too many self-proclaimed Christians is caving in to the secular world regarding Christmas.  Christmas IS the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.  There is no arguement or dispute on this.

Really?  No argument or dispute?  I'm betting the Mithraics from whose deity, Mithra, Christians coopted December 25th as the birth of their savior were pretty pissed about it.  In fact, Mithra, who predated geebuz by several hundred years, was not only said to have been born on December 25th but was the result of immaculate conception, had twelve disciples, performed various miracles and died and rose from the dead.  How , exactly, do you Christains reconcile that?

I'm not sure why you want to argue this. It is clearly called CHRISTmas.  NOT MIRTRAmas.  Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.  Those who choose to follow this Mirthra dude can celebrate whatever they want too, if they wish.  I'm strictly talking about Jesus Christ and those who follow Him.

It's called Christmas because that's what Christians call it.  Clearly the same holiday was celebrated by another religion for the same reason long before Christ was supposed to have existed.  Doesn't the fact that another religion believed beforehand essentially exactly what yours does raise any questions for you?

I'm just tired of xtians getting pissed because they hijacked a religion and others won't respect their counterfeit.

Well, off the cuff, it comes to me that the Old Testament had prophecies regarding Jesus was to be born as the Son of God, prophecies of being born of a virgin, prophecies of being crucified and rising from the dead.  The new testament has eyewitness accounts and documented (matt, mark, luke, and john).  It also appears there must be something to it, because Christianity really "stuck" with some credibility. It STILL is one of the most solid religions of today, and the Holy Bible is still the all-time best seller.....I accept it as the divine word of God.  But thanks for your concern.

Can you tell us in which books and passages these so-called passages appear, please?  Since the discussion is about Christmas, I would also be interested in the prophesy that said that geebuz would be born on December 25th because if that isn't mentioned in the OT, surely you would agree that no member of a previous religion could possibly have known that detail?

Nope, can't tell you any passages that tells us that we should celebrate this day or what day it is.  But, we do.  The sabbath is also a disputable day of worship.  But we do have a day of worship.  That has no bearing on my personal relationship with my God or Christ.  I see no reason to debate this, it has no bearing on it's value to today's Christians.  The only fact (for me) is, the Christ WAS born.  I accept that He is the one and ony Son of God....that being The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

I actually DID piss in the wind before I wrote this reply, so I could come to a coherent and well scrutinized conclusion, based upon a real life experience before I critically acclaimed such a declaration.   I got pictures somewhere if it helps....

Of course not because they don't exist any more than the ones about the virgin mother or raising from the dead.
