it seems like women are biologically wired to put up with more shit than men.  it makes a certain sense when you are helpless for a time when procreating.  we only have a generation or so in which women haven't been raised to believe that abuse is just a "part of a woman's burden".  and there is still a lot of cultural (and familial) pressure to believe that as well.  the bottom line is that this type of behavior is really an individual issue.  culture and society will change when individuals stop putting up with it.  you can debate the psychological reasons, but that is all (literally) academic.

The thing that bothers me just as much, is the fact that some men think, they can lay their hands on a woman. I wouldn't put up with that crap. My Hubby and I rarely argue about anything. When we first got married we had some very bad fights. In the last 19 years we've grown ,and realize that spending our time being angry at each other, is wasting precious time. I try to never be bitter, and I won't hold a grudge on anybody.

Today our AM came to work with her face all black and blue. And, she had a black eye. She had taken some time off work, and that must have been why.  Her boyfriend did it to her. OK.... here's my rant 

Why in the hell do women let men beat on them? Every boyfriend she has had has physically abused her. She dates outside of her race, and I think that is the major reason why this happens to her. She is a very nice gal, and very pretty. She can do a lot better but, she always goes for creeps that treat her bad. I just don't get it.                                             

I agree that she shouldn't date men who do this to her, but c'mon...race has NOTHING to do with it.

A "war story" for those who are interested:

Honestly, although not a trained LEO I would have probably reacted the same way.

I was returning home from work one evening. At the time, I was a bartender so it had to be 2:30 or 3:00 ish and there was a horrible fight taking place in the apartment below me. I could see through the windows as I walked out the steps that the woman and man were having a complete knock down drag out. I would have probably not gotten involved at all, but there were small children huddled in the corner, clinging to each other, screaming for the madness to stop. It instantly broke my heart. So, I knocked on the door, thinking that that would distract the parents long enough to at least stop fighting. I was trying to think of something to say, non fight related, why I was knocking in the first place, but it didn't matter, because they didn't stop fighting and ignored the door. So, I called the police. The police came and dad was taken away. I guess somehow they figured out it was me, because she treated me like crap after that.

I disagree... I think it has A LOT to do with it. Black women won't put up with the abuse, but for some reason white women will. My husband works with a guy, that even told hubby that is why they prefer white women a majority of the time. I guess white women are more tolerent of that type of behavior.  I wouldn't put up with crap from ANYBODY of any race. I think it is nonsensical for any man to lay hands on a woman.

I want this election to be over. I've cast my vote and I figure the majority of America has already decided who they are voting for and why. Even if they won't admit it to themselves, they know.

Now, can we stop all this mudslinging, electioneering, calling, marketing campaigning, and political posturing and just allow America to vote it's choice and move forward with getting this country back on the track toward success please!

I'd be the first to admit I couldn't handle it. Nor would I want to even if I could. 

I'm just sick of all the chatter. The sad part is no matter who wins the losing party will cry and whine; sowing their harvest of sour grapes over the course of the next 4 years until our thoughts are drunk with it's bitterness!

At least when it's over the candidates will stop torturing us with the idiocy. They only make themselves look bad, when they dig their dirt, and smear each other. I think this has been the worst campaign, I have ever witnessed in the mud slinging department. It has been an extremely DIRTY fight on both sides. I'll cast my vote but..... I don't expect any changes. Every election year the candidates make big promises they DO NOT keep. I can't even recall a time when anything really got better.

 Internet communities hold SO much potential for discussion and weighing the pros and cons of just about anything. Sadly, when it comes to the 2008 general election it doesn't seem that forums in general are living up to their complete potential. Don't get me wrong, it's not the fault of the forums, but of certain participants who instead of researching, sharing, discussing our presidential candidates (to include the others aside from the "popular" two) and issues many seem to just want to propagate over-played propaganda and spam e-mails. Shout each other out and down instead of pausing to consider points being made. I'm honestly sick of it. I'm also disappointed that we have all of this information at the touch of our fingertips and instead of using it to become smarter, it's being used to support what certain people want to believe. It's personal, it's relative to the parties, it's us against them, to hell with the truth. Does anyone really care?

I'm baaaaak.... I'm hoping things have cooled down a bit while I've been gone. That last time I was here, I went to the most recent posts section, and couldn't believe all of the political nonsense going on. There was a certain photograph that really pissed me off. I don't care what side of the political page anybody is on but..... don't photoshop pictures of kids flipping the bird, to make some kind of a political point. Using children to make a political statement, is really low IMO. Children are innocent, and should be treated as such. I'm not trying to trample on anybody's freedom of speech here but.... just leave the kids outta it OK.
