I just got off a conference call with customers in the Carolinas, Ohio, and the New England states, and one thing that was a topic of general conversation before and after the business at hand was the scarcity of gasoline, and the gouging still going on with those stations that do have gasoline in those areas.

These men and women report prices in excess of 5 dollars a gallon, especially in those sectors that are experiencing shortages. Hilton Head and the surrounding areas are supposed to be among the hardest hit, with even Cincy experiencing it to varying degrees. . .

This strikes me as a scam being perpetrated by the oil companies in an effort to falsely inflate prices!  :rant:

Of course it's a scam.  Price of regular at the station right outside my development this morning was $3.67/gallon.

I think it's pathetic how they take advantage of people !!!!  :mad: Is this the shortage that was caused by a rumor, that certain areas were going to run out of gas? I remember there was wide spread panic over that.  :-\

I have a friend in Nashville that had to wait 2 1/2 hours in line for almost $5 gas and then there's a limit to the amount they can buy.

Gas here is between $3.57 and $3.67.
