The link says it all. If it isn't enough to stop smoking around other people then you are too self absorbed to be reached with sensible conversation anyway.
In a pretty good place now.

Try this.....tell me one health benefit of smoking.

Maybe?

for me, I never smoked my first cigerette........never had an interest in it.......my dad smoked and it bugged the crap  out of me..........nothing good can come from it............if someone wants to smoke, it should be done with respect of those who do NOT want to be around it.........i avoid it as much as possible...........i rarely will go into a pub, because of the smoking....it is not worth it to me....

This interests me. I sometimes wonder if a person's genes makes them a smoker. Are their nicotine receptors stronger than others? My wife and I both smoked for years, yet our younger daughter never did.

they could have been like myself...........i hated being around my dad when he smoked.........the smoke stunk, he stunk....it annoyed me to be around it............now don't get me wrong, i loved my dad, but......it despised the smoke...........and i grew up with NO desire to do it myself.....

to be honest, i cant imagine WHY anyone would WANT to smoke in the first place..........i cannot comprehind this, never, ever could...

I've never smoked either. I couldn't stand the smell. I grew up in a house w/a wood burning furnace and I liked the smell of wood burning, but cigarette smoke was nasty to me. I had an uncle that lived with us from time to time and he rolled and smoked his own and never emptied the ashtray. I hated it. I can't even eat near an ashtray and I won't pick one up w/out something between my hand and the ashtray. I know that's silly...it's just a dried and rolled up plant in paper, but it's that repulsive to me.

Sorry, I pissed in everybody's cheerios.  I was just stating my opinion, and I'm entitled to do so, or at least I'm under the impression ,that we do still have freedom of speech in this country. As for smoking, or not smoking ,I could give a rats ass. It is a non-issue for me. My problem is  this... and I know this is hard to comprehend, so I'll type REAL S---L---O---W..... I think that Americans are loosing more rights all of the time, that is my issue with all of this. I don't know how to get my point across any clearer.

No one has the right to smoke.

Not Constitutionally, anyway.

i couldn't agree with you more Dex....i'm against the gov interventing into private business'..............i think it should be up to the individual owners of business if they want smoking in thier business or not................i, preferr NOT to go into a place that has smoking, because i don't like it...........but, if they do, i just don't go, or i put up with it...............i'm AGAINST Gov sticking it's nose into ANYTHING that is not it's business.........

Of course you're entitled, Dex!

The problem is that as our population grows and our resources diminish we will lose even more rights as individuals in favor of the rights of the society. You can never be truly free unless you live alone on an island.

I just wonder what right will be taken next? They've pretty much outlawed trans fats in our food. I realize it is bad for a person, but we should be given the right to eat, or not eat it IMO. It's just this... the government has to have control of everything, and they're not happy until they do. I'm sure I'll get lashed for this one but..... I think some of the gun control laws are waaaay off too. Do they really think, if they stop people from buying guns, there will be no more guns. That creates a problem within itself.Law abiding citizens wont have a gun to protect themselves, and their home, from the bad guys. The bad guys will be the only ones carrying guns, and God help us all, if that happens.  :spooked: I have guns, and know how to shoot them. I'm alone in the country 5 nights a week, and I have a sense of security, because the guns are there if I need them. I wouldn't want to be out here, if I didn't have a gun for protection.

I think someone's rights end when they infringe on someone else's rights. Of course you have a right to your opinion and I have the right to disagree . . . respectfully, of course
