WARNING: Rant follows!

Why is it that so much of the American population finds it imperative to ruin others, make others look bad professionally / personally, or just outright lie about situations and / or incidents? What good ever comes of such actions? This is especially true at the professional levels within any career path you would like to choose.

Doctors, lawyers, managers, athletes, directors; each becomes the target of those who aspire to possess more than they have, and jealousy / envy is at the root of it all. Success seems to breed it in others, and age is not out of bounds when it comes to discrimination of others either.

So you ruin the career of a professional, and what does it gain you? Does it put more money into your pocket, or your lawyer's? Not in a majority of the cases. In the end the perpetrator of these evil actions still retires with perhaps enough money to keep them in Alpo until the grim reaper comes for them.

And what of the target of these evil initiatives? Loss of their livelihood, their home, their transportation, their marriage, their career; to what end?

You can even read examples of it all over the internet; whether it is within a forum, an online newspaper, or just on some public message board somewhere, you'll find it. Someone somewhere has a skill, ability, or something that someone else has aspired to have, and because of their frustration or inability to obtain it they subject others to their bitter harvest of sour-grapes.  Like that is going to achieve anything useful for anyone!

Evil brings evil right back upon you. It might be a day, a week, a month, a year, or perhaps twelve; but in the end what you serve up is brought right back upon yourself with interest. I believe that. . . I just hope I am around to enjoy the spectacle.

Today, we started this feed the hungry campaign at work. I have absolutely no problem with anything involving charity. I do have a problem with being forced to ask customers, if the want to donate to the cause. The owner of our store committed us, to have to make at least $100 a day, for the next 10 days. It might not sound like much, but the town where I work, has a massive unemployment rate. People don't have extra money for anything. I don't think we should be forced to do this. Yes, it is a very good cause. I just don't like it. When somebody comes in, and buys a $1 sandwich with a senior discount, it's difficult to ask them, if they want to donate a dollar. We're forced to suggestive sell anyway, and now this crap. What the hell is next?  BTW.... I sold $10 worth. If we collect the most money out of all of his stores, we win an ice cream and pizza party.  Hot Damn!!!  Like we don't eat that stuff all the time.  Jesum Crow!!! I'm ready to die with excitement!!! How immature can they be.

My machine went down mid-process mid-project due by COB which was 15 minutes ago. I'm leaving, I'm not going to frustrate myself.

Uhm.. the owner should calculate how much it will cost to throw an ice cream and pizza party and just donate to the charity instead.  Take some of the pressure off the employee's.

I've always thought it was a real waste to have a fund raiser, then pay for some kind of incentive prize.  Take that money and put into the CAUSE!!!! geez.
Looks like I've come full circle.

I don't suppose he ever even thought about that.  They live to pressure the employees. It was kind of funny, before I went to my register,my boss was taking orders, and couldn't get a single donation. I walked up there, and the first person I waited on gave a donation. It pissed my boss off. Her and our assistant manager are horribly jealous, that the customers love me LOL!!!! They don't hide it either. They know how bad they need me, and it bugs the hell out of them.

I used to think the same thing regard the incentive prizes and honestly in this case, I agree with Pari. I don't think it was real well thought out.    I'm sure they think it's a nice gesture and an incentive, but it doesn't pass the common sense test.

However,  there are a lot of volunteer events that I do where the corporate sponsors donate a gift of some type for a raffle/door prize and money as well. You'd be amazed what people would do for a $5 gift certificate. So, they could give the 5 bucks or they could inspire 5 people to participate, contribute, whatever on the off chance that they might be the lucky winner.

It's just stupid all the way around. Yesterday the store made $75. Whoopee dingy!!!!  I got $ 11 today, and I was there for 2 hrs. It's senseless in a way, because it's a charity to feed kids in other countries, and there are children in the U.S., that are starving. It just really pisses me off.

Today I had an irate customer. He was one of those people who is mad at the world. He asked me if we still have 3 piece meals? I said yes, do you want it original or extra crispy? He said original with cole slaw as a side dish. I asked him what he wanted for his other side dish and he says" I don't want another fuckin' side dish." So, I said "alright I'll change it." So he pays for his meal, and my coworker sets it on the counter. He opens the bag, and says, "how about giving me what I fuckin' ordered." I walked over there, and I swear to God, it took every last bit of strength I had ,not to jump over the counter, and pound him into the ground. I said " You ordered 3 pieces of original dark meat chicken, and pointed to it, you get a bisquit with it,and a side dish of cole slaw, and pointed at it. Then I said "that is exactly what you ordered." He just grabbed the bag and left. The guy behind him, told me he felt like hitting him,and that guy had no need ,or right to talk to me that way . He said that is considered disorderly conduct. I laughed it all off, because there were other customers waiting. We had a good laugh at hie expense, because he looked like an ass,and made a fool of himself. What a Fucktard.

Sounds like this moron needs an attitude adjustment!

Don't let them get to you Dex. The "dark ones" (I mean that phrase in a spiritual sense), are always trying to drag us into the shadows. Don't stand for it. Smile, give them their change, and flash them the shocker on their way out!

Excellent advice PH.  I'm one of those people, that can go from pissed, to smiling in the blink of an eye. Even when a customer is extremely nasty, I've got a smile ready for the next customer.  I can turn it on, and off pretty fast. It is good because just because someone treats me bad, it's not the next customer's fault. A lot of my coworkers can't do that. They take it personal, and the rest of their day is shot.

I was in my favorite Verizon store the other day, getting new phones.  The place was busy, and the ladies working there were doing there best to handle the customers.  Some were there to upgrade phones, while others were there to pay a phone bill.  2 ladies were helping with the phone upgrades, and one new girl was handling the bill paying, which had a long line.

Some jerk in the bill paying line got all bent out of shape when he finally got his turn.  He started ranting and raving about customer service, and how in the business he owns, folks are treated better.  While things could have been organized better, he was still out of line.  The store manager had been waiting on us, so she stopped and intervened on her employee's behalf, and asked him to leave the store.  Of course Mr Personality jumped her, and ended up standing right next to my wife while spewing his BS.  At that point the wife turned and asked/told him to get out of her face, that she did not want to hear it.  At the same time I had turned to face both of them and was ready to drop his ass if he said anything to my wife that was out of line.  Luckily for everyone, he backed off and left.  I really didn't feel like getting drug off to jail over his stupid ass, but I was not going to let him get away with anymore BS.

The store manager handled things well, right up to threatening to call the police to have him removed.  We all congratulated her on her professionalism.

And speaking of Phones......

Last June we switched from the OLD AT&T to the NEW AT&T to take advantage of DSL.  We paid our final bill and all was well, for a while.  Then I started getting a bill from the OLD AT&T for a $15 reconnection fee for our long distance service.  WTF??????

The wife has called a few times and now it was my turn.  I called the customer disservice number and spoke with "William Andrews" who sounded like Dr. Punjab to me.  He kept talking in circles about how I owed money for service restoration in August with the old AT&T.  He even got snippy at one point when I asked him how they could restore service that I had cancelled in June.  I finally asked him where he was located and he would not tell me.  So I told him that until I could speak with someone from America I was done with their bill and hung up.

I called back to go through the menu to get the e-mail address and got the automated run-around there as well.  I then started hitting the operator button and heard it say that was the wrong choice, but what did it know?  I ended up connected to an American who was very helpful in deleting a charge that should not have been there.

We will see how it goes from here.

I am so F'ing tired of calling halfway across the world for something here.  Not only that, they insult my intelligence by giving Haji and Punjab American sounding names to use, that they can hardly pronounce themselves.
