What you can do is find some of that pine or cinnamon scented liquid popourri and soak real pine cones in it, let them dry and tuck them around the house--lasts for a long time unless you have the heat turned way up a lot.

It's much cheaper too.

Don't ever buy any of that pine-scented air freshener--it's bogus--smells like Pine Sol.   :-\

Now that's a cool idea PIYA.

A lot of the Christmas Tree stands sell pine garland here.  I thought about getting some of that for the smell.  I have a fake tree.  It is only 4 feet tall.  I put it on a card table to make it appear to the outside world that it is huge.

I have a million ornaments that have been given to me by students.  I figure once I have a husband and kids, I'll use this little tree just for my teacher ornaments.  I didn't put a lot of them up this year.  I want my tree to look a bit different in my new house.  I need to go get more bulbs and I need to get the 2007 Steeler ornament!
Take time to smell the roses.

I had to go lite on the ornaments because, the cats tear them off. I've already lost two to the heat register. The cats bat them around, and they go a stray, right down the vent. Note to self.... replace heat vent cover.

I'm lucky that kitty has no interest in the tree or the ornaments.  He prefers attacking our feet and ankles

I'll trade ya.  They can be really destructive to Christmas trees. I'm not ashamed to admit it, my tree is tied to the window, with clear fishing line. If it wasn't tied up, it surely would have taken a ride, 2 minutes after we put it up. LOL!!!!

LOL, my tree was tied to the wall last year.  I'd give anything to have it tied to the wall this year.  Have I mentioned lately how much I wish I could go home and have Christmas in my own house? :(
Looks like I've come full circle.

:'(  I wish you could too Pariann.  There's no place like home for the Holidays. I bet your daughter will try to make it special there for you.  Look at it this way........ You do have a home to be at for Christmas, it's not your home but.... there are a lot of people out there, that will be sleeping in cardboard boxes on Christmas Eve,and everyday of the year. You have a family that loves you, and you have food in your belly. Sometimes, I think about these things, and feel extremely lucky for what I have. I know it's not what you're used to,and not how you pictured it, but you have much more than you realize.  And next year it will take place in your home again I'm sure. It's just another hurdle. There are many of those in life. And you know what they say..... What doesn't kill us,only makes us stronger, and you are very strong Pariann.  Never doubt that.

I did that for years, fortunately the cats we've had for the last few years have not been interested in the tree.  They sniff around after it is up and then go ho hum..... We always have a real tree.

We ended up getting an artificial tree this year. The place that we had planned to get our living tree from, doesn't buy them back and I don't have any place to plant it. ( I found out after the fact that IKEA has them.) So, we had intended to get our tree last Saturday and Lil' Mojo was bummed that he living tree didn't work out. We were doing our shopping and found an artificial tree that looked pretty in the store, so we bought it. I hate it. We put it together and I shaped it (or tried to lol) and put the lights on. She decorated it and I believe it looks as pretty as it can. Next year, I'll go to Ikea for a living tree and donate this one.
