I wonder is  you will pay the extra money for another one.  That is, if you keep your house with that wonder and kind Home Owners Association.

I wish ovens worked that way.  At least I'll be able to cook on top of the stove and have the burners for heat off and on.  Guess I can always use my dutch oven though if the need arises and we want biscuits or something.  For toast I'll just go dig out our camp toaster that goes on the camp stove.  Hope it doesn't come to that though.

Yeah, they got you on the oven.  When I bought my new stove I made sure it had one top burner that had 70,000 BTUs.  If worse comes to worse.  I'm going to take a SS cookie tray and deflect the heat out from under my oven hood and help heat the house.  It's to bad that the oven has a elecric gas valve on it.

Yeah, I dug out our camping gear on Sunday. Our stove is electric so the propane camp stove will be put into service if the power goes out. And we've got the toaster thing too!

You can use a long match or lighter to ignite the gas burners you know. . . The gas valves will still open, its just the igniter that won't light the gas. . . (At least they USED to work that way).
I know you can do that with the burners but I'm not sure a match will burn hot enough long enough to open the gas valve in the oven 'cause it takes a minute or two for the glow coil to open it and it appears to be pretty hot.

If your oven has an automatic ;electric igniter, this has an electric gas valve.  No electricity no gas valve opening no matter how long your match is it  won't light.  No fresh baked bread to go with the butter and jelly and candle.

That's what dutch ovens are for.

The ovens, yes. . . the stove top burners, not necessarily. Most of them just have electronic igniters and the gas valve works as a traditional manual one. . .

I think your end of town got it worse than we did ice wise.

Palehorse

Maybe. I have not left the driveway so I couldn't really say. In any case, it is going to get worse!

The trees aren't coated like that here and neither is the car.

The winds oout this way probably had a lot to do with that. It just howls out here most of the time. . . :spooked:

Those lines you see in the picture of the trees, feed the underground lines of this subdivision. A couple of years ago the ice storm we had snapped some of those poles carrying those liens, and it wasn't this bad then. I expect that once round 2 starts they will go down sometime tonight. . .

For some reason our lights have started to flicker.  Guess the wind might have picked up a tad or something.

Yep. . . Just think what is going to happen when we get another inch of ice onto those lines and the wind starts really blowing!

We don't have anything near that bad.  We do have about 1/2 to 3/4 of ice on the cleared off sidewalk.  A little Zamboni time and I could make a 2 block long ice rink of smooth hard ice.  Anyone for skating.
