That must be a requirement for meteorologists!  :icon_twisted:

I shudder to think how much snow we'd have on the ground right now if all the rain we've gotten in the last two days was snow.....PH would be smilin' real big though.

It's raining cats and dogs here. I've been out running around the yard with a dipnet, trying to catch them, before they hit the ground.  :spooked: It's 35* and we have no snow yet. It's suppose to start after midnight, and snow throughout tommorrow. They're still calling for 8 -12 inches. Chicago is looking at 18-20.  :spooked: I wonder how all of this is going to play out. Are they calling for any snow in your neck of the woods?

Yes but I don't know how with the temps supposedly going to be in the upper 40's or lower 50's.  I think they need to update the info I'm getting 'cause it sure don't add up.

Basically you can convert rain to snow by figuring 10 inches of snow for every inch of rain. Now this is a rough formula because it all depends upon the texture of the snow, which is determined by the amount of moisture, relative humidity, winds, the jet stream temps, etc. . .

Using this estimate we'd be in for 30 inches or more over the next 24 hours alone. . . :icon_twisted: But NOOOOO. . . Instead we get floods and mud. . . People can deal with snow, but have a much harder time with water. . . Guess we'll just have to do things the hard way. . .

I was thinking it was 11 to 1 but it would still be a lot of snow any way you look at it.  Of course you would be doing the happy dance all over the place wouldn't ya?....LOL  I just hope I don't get a bunch of "my basements flooded" calls tomorrow.  I'll just have to tell 'em sorry 'bout yer bad luck start bailin'.... :icon_twisted: I think I've finally got 'em pretty well sealed up now though.

If we get what they are saying, basements will be the least of many folks worries. . .

The temperature might have a sudden drop. A couple of storms ago, it was sunny and 40* and it dropped to 25* in no time at all. It was real sudden, infact people were shocked, at how fast it got cold. This has been the craziest Winter. Hell, we had 70* weather at the end of December. Sunday we got 5 inches of snow, and it all melted yesterday, and now we're looking at a foot. It's like a crazy carousel ride you can't get off of LOL!! The weather has got us spinning in Illinois.  :spooked:
