He brought us a complete 24 hours of rain too, I think. I had asked him to do a dance for us.  :biggrin: We totally needed it. Its' cool and windy today, but I wish the rain would start back up. I guess that's easy for me to say considering there's no chance that it'll turn to ice or snow. Although I'd like to see some snow...

anyway....It's 57 now w/the mid sixties being projected as the high.

Well, the storm is over. We had about an inch of ice. It turned in to rain about an hour ago. We had to litterally skate out to the cat barn, when we fed them. Right now it's a downpour of rain,and high winds. The ice is flying out of the trees, and it's hitting the windows hard. I keep thinking that sitting by this window, may not be the best idea. Death by icicle does NOT  sound like a GOOD TIME to me.  :spooked:  :cold:

I may crawl under my desk, and just peek, and poke. Peek up over the edge of the desk, and blindly poke in the words for my posts. You'll have to forgive me, if I make grammatical errors, this is dangerous business.  :spooked:  :tomahit:  :biggrin:

I have a feeling things are going to be a mess in the morning unless the rain takes the ice off the trees before it gets too heavy and the limbs start breaking off.

We've got limb casualties here. I don't know for sure how bad, but a big limb snapped off one of my humongous pines, in the backyard, and crashed down on the neighbors fence row. Tommorrow, we'll have to get the chainsaw out, and remove it,and cut it up. That's why I hate ice storms. Every time we have one, the pine trees take the brunt of it. These pine trees are probably 50 or more feet tall. They're huge. We figure they're probably really old. I picked up 2 sacks of pine cones a month ago. They are very peaceful trees. I love to listen to the wind whispering through them. I just hate ice storms.  :no:

Ice storms can sure reek havoc on trees for sure.

Ice is a major problem here when we get it. It's not that we can't drive on it, for there can be an inch of wet slick ice on the roads and cars will whiz right along on them. The problem lies with the amount of untrimmed trees that we have EVERYWHERE.

Owners pitch a grand fit here in the county seat if you look at their big trees with a chainsaw wanting to prune them away from power lines. In the smaller towns and rural areas, they just come along and buzz them into shape. The outlands have enough problems with power outages, so nobody in their right mind is going to argue about it.

But here in the "big town" with all the "big shots" we have the problem of a little ice bringing these monster overhanging limbs down on power lines about every storm and thus, TADA major power outages.
And thus I clothe my naked villainy
With old odd ends, stol'n forth of holy writ;
And seem a saint, when most I play the devil.

I know the ice can be a bummer but damn I miss it!

I remember as a kid all the ice storms we'd have and how beautiful the trees looked glistening in the morning sun.

Of course, the phone was down and the electricity off but it didn't last long.

I'd rather have the cold and snow and ice than this ungodly heat and humidity--having a white Christmas one more time would just do it for me!
If you don't have anything nice to say then come over here and sit by me!
