Democrats are not only favored in the tone of the coverage. They get more coverage period. This is particularly evident on morning news shows, which "produced almost twice as many stories (51% to 27%) focused on Democratic candidates than on Republicans."

Reviewing 154 stories on evening network newscasts over the course of 109 weeknights, the survey found that Democrats were presented in a positive light more than twice as often as they were portrayed as negative. Positive tones for Republicans were detected in less than a fifth of stories while a negative tone was twice as common.

The most flagrant bias, however, was found in newspapers. In reviewing front-page coverage in 11 newspapers, the study found the tone positive in nearly six times as many stories about Democrats as it was negative.

Im not sure how fair that part is....I mean, even look at this forum....the Democratic contenders get a lot more time on here than the Republicans do, becaues the Republicans dont often present a candidate that generates much excitement.

awol

of course harvard would say that...they're republican biased.

Given the fact that the Republican administration, and until the last year, the Republican controlled Congress, are responsible for the mess that we currently find ourselves in, why shouldn't the Republicans expect to be painted in a negative light?   They're simply whining about being held accountable for their own actions.

Actually you're quite wrong HH.  The American public generally holds the Congress in low regard regardless of which party is in control.

And it was more than a "nice try".  The Republicans have been in the majority in the Congress from 1996 until the last general election.  The White House has been in Republican control for 7 of the last 8 years.  The blame for the situation in which we find ourselves can be placed squarely at the feet of the Republicans regardless of what different picture they may try to paint.

I am not wrong............they did not plummet into record lows until Nancy took over............granted...it IS the entire congress that is responsible...not just the dems..
