If 20 million illegal aliens returned "home," the U.S. economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage. Everyone would pay their fair share of taxes because they wouldn't be working off the books. That would result in an additional $401 billion in IRS income taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local state and city coffers.

We would lose 500,000 illegal criminal alien inmates at a cost of more than $1.6 billion annually. That includes 15,000 MS-13 gang members who distribute $130 billion in drugs annually would vacate our country. In cities like L.A., 20,000 members of the "18th Street Gang" would vanish from our nation. No more Mexican forgery gangs for ID theft from Americans! No more foreign rapists and child molesters!

Losing more than 20 million people would clear up our crowded highways and gridlock. Cleaner air and less drinking and driving American deaths by illegal aliens!

Over $80 billion annually wouldn't return to their home countries by cash transfers. Illegal migrants earned half that money untaxed, which further drains America's economy – which currently suffers an $8.7 trillion debt.

At least 400,000 anchor babies would not be born in our country, costing us $109 billion per year per cycle. At least 86 hospitals in California, Georgia and Florida would still be operating instead of being bankrupted out of existence because illegals pay nothing via the EMTOLA Act. Americans wouldn't suffer thousands of TB and hepatitis cases rampant in our country—brought in by illegals unscreened at our borders.

If my math is right, the 401 billion from the first paragraph comes out to 20K a year paid in taxes by the 20 million illegals. Thats a ridiculous number, as I doubt the jobs the illegals take make much more than 20K a year.

That is only roughly 9.50 an hour...........I know a guy who pays $15.00 an hour/plus overtime....and he hires mexicans all the time....I think that is probably very accurate.....why do you think that is ridiculous?.....minimum wage pays about $16,000 a year....and remember, most of these guys are not paying taxes....

Besides the fact that I the outcome as stated is exaggerated companies already take their production outside the  US to avoid labor laws.

because the article says an additional 401 billion in taxes collected each year. These jobs are not at an income level where that sort of tax will be collected. (You dont pay 20 grand in taxes making 15 dollars an hour)

Instead of diasecting how he came up with those figures and lose focus of the intent of the thread.....the point remains, WHAT IF..... and there is no doubt, the illegals ARE straining our economy....i.e. our healthcare and hospitals alone, would save significant numbers...

. . .We could alienate a neighbor and further trash our diplomatic relationships globally; and fuel the flames of our critics.  . .

The landscaping industry, dishwashing, food service industry, construction industry would suddenly experience a prolonged drop in capacity, and hospitals, etc., would lay off thousands because there won't be anything for them to do anymore. These folks won't take jobs as landscapers, etc. because it is "beneath them". . .

You know I wish we had a great solution to this problem...I agree with you on some of this PH....there are many jobs out there that are NOT desirable positions by most americans....and, the WILL do the work at a minimal wage, in which intices owners to hire, and it filters down to more reasonable costs to the consumers.....but, the schools, hospitals, prisons are all being taken over at the taxpayers expense....the madness has got to stop.....somewhere...

Well its hard to figure out what the intent is exactly when his numbers are clearly flawed. Its too easy to dismiss it as some scare tactic/propoganda when his numbers indicate that these folks would turn over every dime they made to the tax man....or suddenly get jobs making 80 or 90 grand a year.

And there IS doubt, among some, that these folks are straining the economy. Ive read convincing arguments to the contrary. My gut tells me that you are exactly right---I imagine that under-educated, low earners, take more than they give our economic machine. But thats the case whether they are here legally or not.

I like my rapists and child molesters like I like my weed...homegrown.

It seems as though we're making this more complicated than it has to be, although I'm sure there is much I don't understand.  I think these folks should be able to stay here and work the jobs they work, just as long as they don't get any benefits from a system they haven't contributed to.

We can't send them home!  If they leave, who's gonna do my nails and landscaping for peanuts?  Who's gonna wash my car for 5 bucks?
I have about an acre of lawn that needs raking.  Heaven forbid I get out there and do it myself!  Fresh air is bad these days, you know!  And did I mention my nails?
If you don't have anything nice to say then come over here and sit by me!
