when do you guys move?????

I just caught this today, RHG! I brought my husband into this thread to show him Magistrate's handiwork...and the kitchen cupboards! The move is set for November 17th...but the closing is this Friday! So, the work begins this week!

Thanks so much for asking. How are things in WVa coming along?

Magistrate

Thanks for the update Sunny! Things are going slow here, but OK. Had a snag come up about a termite treatment that was done before I poured the concrete floor. It seems that the treatment that I had a company do for termites, in order to protect my log home, wasn't a chemical for termites and only a third of what was needed for the square footage was put in the ground! The state Agriculture Department asked to check behind them and found this out for me. Of course it onlt took them since the 4th of July to realize this! They are filing charges against the treatment company and said that the company is going to have to make it right. But to do that, they are going to have to get the treatment under the floor of the house somehow. They can't drill through the floor because of the heating system set in the concrete. So they are going to have to go through the foundation from the outside somehow. The state said that the company will be contacting me about it. It was pretty frustrating since the fix won't be an easy one. I am getting gas hooked up this week, Lord willing, to heat the house while we are working on it. I hope to be putting up more of the tongue and groove ceiling this weekend. It depends on whether I can get the insulation up by the weekend. We are going to help with the fall festival at church tomorrow for the kids, so yet another day will be not working on the house. But the kids are worth it. Have a great week and happy closing on your new home!

Gryphon

oh what a nightmare! Let me know how that turns out.

(You'd be amazed how effortlessly they can get under a slab!)

Sunny

How frustrated you & RHG must be. Sorry to hear about this setback...we all know you & the misses wanted to be all settled into your new home by Thanksgiving. Hopefully there's a quick resolve to the challenge.

Thanks for the update & the happy closing wishes.

Fatcats Mom

OK, it's been long enough! No more excuses......What's going on with OUR house????????

Magistrate

LOL! Well let's see...

I got my heating system put together and ready for mounting on the wall in the laundry room. I have cleaned up the LRHG's sewing room and got her closet lined with cedar and the lighting installed. I got insulation in the ceiling over the front bedroom and Living Area. I got wiring ran to the Greatroom from the breaker box. I installed the gas stove in the Greatroom and ran the piping to the ouitside for the propane company to make their hookup. I have it ready to serve as our secondary source of heat once the house is completed, but until then, it will serve as our primary source of heat. I got part of the cedar installed in the Master Bedroom Closet.
And today, we spent the entire day at Lowes! The Lowes store in out town is closing to relocate to a better location. They had a 20% off sale going on to clear their inventory, as well as a 10% off on top of that if you can show you were once in the military. I saved 30% on three very full truckloads of stuuf! It was about $1300 in savings. I was hoping to get all of the sheetrock that I need for the interior walls, but unfortunately, there was several contractors who were waiting in line to take it when the store opened this morning! We did get much of what we needed to complete the house though. The LRHG had fun today seeing much of the remaining stuff we needed, go into the house. It is good that we saved alot, but now I have alot more stuff to work around! LOL I guess I can live with that for $1300!  Most of what I have been doing lately would not be easy to see in pictures, so I will wait a while before posting more. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will have some changes that will be visible in pictures.
How's Fatcat? Have a great weekend my friend!

Hi Buffy! Yes that is East River Mountain. Our home is located on top of Black Oak Mountain near Kegley. We can see East River Mountain from Kellysville all the way to Tazewell, Indian Ridge to the North west, and Flat Top through the trees to the Northeast. It is a beautiful piece of land, We were very blessed to get it.
Something to Consider! God Bless!
