Well it's been several days........What's up??????????

Red Haired Girl

Hi FC's Mom... thanks for checking in on us....
what's up is.... life.... we have been as busy as one-armed-basket-weavers!
magistrate is at Lowe's tongiht getting some  fittings for the stove (heating stove) that will go in the Family Room.  I think that he is thinking about keeping me warm when the weather goes bad.  I freeze.......

Magistrate and a friend actually DID get a major accomplishment... about 1/3 of the tongue in groove ceiling is up... and is looks fabulous!  In this picture you will see that Mag. covered the cabinets to keep them in top shape....

well, rats... i could not get the pics to load into photo bucket... but i am sure that Magistrate will be able to acomplish the fete..

thanks.... hey hey... weekend coming up!  Wonder what all we'll done??????????????? :smash:  :whip:

Thank you RHG, you know me, got to have those updates. I love watching it all come together for you two. So you just keep cracking that whip and keep us posted.

Have a great weekend sweet lady.

Gryphon

I cant get over the cabinets! Did you have them custom made or are they available from someone like that?

Sunny

I might've said this before, so I apolgize for the redundancy...but, you 2 must be so proud of the home your making with your very own hands. What an accomplishment and labor of love.  :smitten:

Gryphon, the cabinets were right off the floor at Lowes.  Except we chose a different stain.  They are made by KraftMaid.  When you order, there are different qualities, and different standards to go with each... these are top of the line... and they really ARE as lovely as they looked in the pictures.  The glass doors were the priciest part, i think... and so, we only got 6, and had originally wanted 10.  Oh well, they are now the hightlighted area . :-)....I love them... they have copper caning between the pieces of glass....ooooo la la!

we do not have the hardware for them yet.. that is a "little rock" and we are still trying to get all the "big rocks" first....

And, yes, Sunny... it is wonderful to see the efforts of the work.  I know that this is especially true with Magistrate. First of all because he is the primary worker on the house.  He has been able to do it all, except for 3 things he has hired done... 1) the concrete slab, because our heat is in the floor, and it had to be perfect, also because if the slab is off, then nothing else will be right... it HAD to be perfect.. so we did our homework and hired the right crew... and know what? it IS perfect.
2) the installation of the cabinets.  we had thought that we'd be doing this, but it was a no brainer.  They had a special.  installation was about $1,200.  And tax on the cabinets was over $800 if i remember correctly.  The special was, if you had Lowes do the installation, then the tax was FREE>.. hmmmm...so, we figured it was a deal we could not pass up.  It was like getting them installed for $400. Not to shabby. (and we had a 10% off purchase coupon that saved us about $1,500 on the cabinet purchase! WAAAAAAAAAAAAA   HHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!    3) the septic system. Magistrate had knowledge to do this, and we had planned to rent a "digger" and do it... but come to find out, it HAD to be installed by someone with a license... license cost about $300, so , heck... we let someone else do the diggin'.... we paid them, and had that time to invest in other jobs.

It has been fun... we have been at it for over a year now, and there are days when i am just tired, and know that same is true for Magistrate... but, i keep telling myself:

Good things are worth waiting for!

Great pictures! You better watch that "dude" Magistrate. I think he "told" you that he was wondering about the ceiling. I think he has his eye on RHG.

Check out those little dots in the first ceiling picture. Are there ghosts there?
