For someone who claims that you want LESS government it's amazing to me that you think OUR government should dictate how he runs HIS country.  But to answer your quesion, if he really said that and means it, perhaps he'll be willing to make some positive changes. I still fail to see how this is a bad thing.

Who thinks it is okay, for Government to legislate what we can or cannot eat, such as fast foods, for health reasons?

You are on a very slippery slope.  If the government has no authority to legislate what we eat for health reasons, they can't disallow the sale of peanuts and pistachios tainted with salmonella nor can they prevent the sale of meat from animals that died of mad cow disease.  What about drugs?  If you don't want the goverment interfering in what food you put into your body should they be able to control what else we may ingest?

I find it interesting that you scream to the heavens about government interference when it affects your ability to shove another quarter pounder down your throat or when they're trying to fix the economy but believe government interference is warranted in deciding what a woman should do with her body and her pregnancy.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Neither science nor the law consider a zygote a human life but that notwithstanding, I'm sure that you would agree that happy meals should be banned since most of the people they are purchased for are innocent children who are too young to understand that the garbage they are being fed could ultimately shorten their lifespans?

eating a happy meal has NEVER proven to hurt anyone.....a zygote IS a stage of human life..there is NO arguement about that...

You're high; obesity is as big a health problem in this country now as smoking and certainly the health issues associated with it are far greater than those you claim in another thread from not being circumcized.

Quote..a zygote IS a stage of human life..there is NO arguement about that...

No, a zygote is a stage of any life...humans, puppies, kittens, roaches, and yes, even the cows you eat in your happy meal.  Does the commandment say, "thou shalt not kill," or, "thou shalt not kill people (unless they're non-whites and you can make a case for WMD's and whatnot)"?

hell yeah obesity is a problem...because people eat too damn much....eating a happy meal is NOT the problem....eating two of them every day for years and years may be....eating too much of mom's home cooking can be a problem too....should we outlaw mom's home cooking?..

don't pollute the question.....you said that science does not consider a zygote a human life....I digress...it IS 'life'...in it's earliest stage...but it IS life.

actually, this topic was supposed to be about Castro....this question you brought up was posed in 2007... it was digging through my old threads and found this one, to pose my new question...

You're being intentionally obtuse; it is well documented that much of our obesity problem stems directly from fast food and soft drinks and you know it.

Quotedon't pollute the question.....you said that science does not consider a zygote a human life....I digress...it IS 'life'...in it's earliest stage...but it IS life.

And that your morality as it relates to revering such life only extends to humans is pretty shallow, IMO.

fast food and soft drinks are a small portion of the problem......I believe it has more to do with the lack of exercise...do we now need laws to force everyone to exercise?.........people have GOT to be accountable for themselves..and their families...NOT gov's place...which has NOTHING to do with an innocent unborn baby that a mother decides to have it's brains sucked out because she doesn't FEEL like being a mother at that point in time of her life.

Certainly, a combination of caloric intake and inactivity combine to cause obesity but to say that fast food and soft drinks aren't high in calories is ridiculous.  In countries where these things are not as predominant, obesity isn't anywhere near what it is here regardless of activity levels.  Are you aware that the consumption of an average of one soda per day raises the probability that a child will be obese as an adult by 10%?

So what you're saying is that everyone should be accountable for him/herself unless it offends your peculiar religious beliefs.

Nope, just saying it is NOT right to kill an unborn baby...because a man and woman, again, does NOT want to be held accountable for having unprotected sex, or was simply being careless.

Most don't believe that it's a baby so preventing someone from aborting it would be forcing your beliefs on others.  That's the issue.

Your argument might not be so ridiculous if there was a cookie machine  every 50 feet and Rickers was selling buckets of them.
