Who thinks it is okay, for Government to legislate what we can or cannot eat, such as fast foods, for health reasons?

Me either, but I do think that the gov't should oversee the requirement that the food industry provides the consumer with nutritional info so that we can make informed choices. Which they do. (psst, typo on the word "question") misspelled)

That is a good one Piya, though I'm not sure the Gov has to be the one to oversee it...

Maybe not, but there has to be a point of accountability and enforcement so that there is compliance to the preset standard. Otherwise they'll do what they want and the consumer is unprotected.  Would private industry be able to establish that type of authority? And who would they answer to?

I think it's just plain sad that we (as a nation) have become so nutritionally challenged that the govt feels the need to enforce fast food efforts!

I'm probably the most nutritionally challenged person here.   The way I see it is this..... If you don't want to eat junk, don't go to fast food restaurants. It's as simple as that. Why should everybody be forced to eat the same things others eat. When McDonald's cut the supersized fry out of the menu, people bought a large and a small. I was working at one at the time. Whats been accomplished there? McDonald's made a lot of money, and the fat people stayed fat or got fatter LOL!!! We have had soo many of our rights stripped away it's ridiculous.

Why not the government? My wife does. And how to sit, and how to dress, and not to pick my nose etc etc etc

;D  That's funny.

 Well... picking your nose in public is a bit uncouth, but picking your seat would be much worse LOL!!! Is there a law on the books about these situations?

That Castro is a better judge of character than you? Although I'm curious to know how you know what Castro wants.

because he said so...

The aging, ailing, cigar-smoking icon Fidel Castro had three members of Congress visit with him today in Havana, which resulted in the bearded one asking, "How can we help President Obama?"  In an effort to improve the relationship between Cuba and the U.S., Reps. Barbara Lee (D-Oakland), Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) and Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.) were the first U.S. officials to meet with the 82-year-old former dictator since his intestinal surgery in July 2006.

I see your point, an improved relationship between Cuba and the US would be disastrous!

He is a dictator....and has ruled his country by HIS choice....relations could have improved decades ago..IF, he was NOT a communist dictator...

the world is just fine with or without Cuba....it is just sad, that the cuban people had to live the way they did, because of ONE tyrant....HE wants things HIS way...despite what is best for the people...
