 I started this thread to give updates on several topics posted in my section.....

First.... Champs rose bush is still blooming. It still has the most beautiful pink blooms. This is a real surprise, considering we've had several frosts here. It's more beautiful than the day I planted. I wonder how much longer it will bloom? I keep thinking it's going to turn ugly and brown, but so far it is still beautiful.


Second.... The little kitten I rescued on the 4 th of July is now weened. Hubby decided he liked the name Daisey, because he found her under my Shasta Daisies. So, that is her official name. She is totally adorable. She has long black fur, and it's flecked with gold and orange highlights. She eats like a pig, and begs for table scraps. I share a bite or two with her, but not too much. I don't like giving animals table food, because they don't get proper nutrition that way.  She is now 3 months old.

Third..... My garden is pretty much done. I still have pumpkins setting on the vines, but I don't think they will ripen. Grand total for the season was 60. Got 20 ears of miniature blue Indian corn. Not too bad actually.

I don't know how to do the avatar thing.

Easy--just go to the top of the homepage and click on PROFILE.  Then over on the left you will see a few paragraphs and one says FORUM PROFILE INFORMATION.  Click on that and then you can upload a pic from your computer. 
I think the admins don't want you to link to an outside site so you'll have to find a nice spooky avatar somewhere and save it to your hard drive and upload it from there!

Today,I finished my pumpkin harvest. I got 20 more,although some of them are either partially ripe, or totally green. Four of them weighed 15-20 lbs. They may ripen in the sun. There were still babies setting on,and they were still blooming. We decided to get everything mowed off, because this is supposed to be our last decent day. So, I've been doing yard work all day.

Another project I got done today was applying wood sealent, to my wishing well in my front yard. I also gathered all of my pine cones, for Winter craft projects. I feel I've accomplished a lot, in only 2 hours.

I'll say!  It's finally cool here so I'll be out in the yard this weekend!

I have been on a pecan-shelling mission.

A friend has access to about 8 trees--all different varieties--and he picks them up and gives them to me then I take them to the pecan cracker and start shelling.  So far I have about 30 lbs!

They cost so much to buy them at the store and I figure with the holidays coming up--lotsa folks are gonna get pecan treats!

I absolutely love pecans. At Christmas time, I make praline pecans. They are to die for. I've been thinking about making some for Thanksgiving this year.

Champs rose bush is still getting new blooms on it. We've had probably 6 frosts,and several nights below freezing. I'm very shocked that it hasn't gone dormant yet. I never got the memorial garden done this year, but I'm going to decide exactly what I'm doing with it, and start it in the Spring. I'm thinking of some landscaping around it, a bench,and many,many flowers.

That is a WONDERFUL idea!  It is so rewarding--I did it under Bo's fig tree and I love to go out there and write in my journal or read.  It's still a work in progress but I look forward to making it a special place for us.

It is sooo hard when you lose a pet. Two weeks ago I finally got my pictures of Champ developed. My husband wouldn't let me look at them until we got home. I've only looked at them one time,and lost it. The pictures were taken the morning we had her put to sleep because, I didn't have any pictures of her. So, when I looked at those pictures, it all came back. I want to show them to my friend Kathy, she's the one who took care of Champ, when I was at work, but I can't bring my self to do it. It's getting a little easier now, but I still miss her awful bad,and think about her everyday.
