Dear Concerned Student:

I am not allowed in schools.

Sincerely,

God

----------------------------------------------------------

How did this get started?...

-----------------

Let's see,
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained
She didn't want any prayer in our schools.

And we said, OK..

------------------

Then,
Someone said you better not read the Bible in school,
The Bible that says
"thou shalt not kill,
Thou shalt not steal,
and love your neighbors as yourself,"

And we said, OK...

-----------------

Dr. Benjamin Spock said
We shouldn't spank our children
when they misbehaved
because their little personalities
would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.

And we said,
an expert should know what he's talking about
so we won't spank them anymore..

------------------

Then someone said
teachers and principals better not
discipline our children when they misbehave.
And the school administrators said
no faculty member in this school
better touch a student when they misbehave
because we don't want any bad publicity,
and we surely don't want to be sued.

And we accepted their reasoning...

------------------

Then someone said,
let's let our daughters have abortions if they want,
and they won't even have to tell their parents.

And we said, that's a grand idea...

------------------

Then some wise school board member said,
since boys will be boys
and they're going to do it anyway,
let's give our sons all the condoms they want,
so they can have all the fun they desire,
and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.

And we said, that's another great idea...

------------------

Then some of our top elected officials said
it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs.

And we said,
it doesn't matter what anybody,
including the President,
does in private as long as we have jobs and the economy is good....

------------------

And someone else took that appreciation a step further
and published pictures of nude children
and then stepped further still by
making them available on the Internet.

And we said, everyone's entitled to free speech....

------------------

And the entertainment industry said,
let's make TV shows and movies that promote
profanity, violence and illicit sex...
And let's record music that encourages
rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...

And we said,
it's just entertainment
and it has no adverse effect
and nobody takes it seriously anyway,
so go right ahead.

------------------

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience,
why they don't know right from wrong,
and why it doesn't bother them to
kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

------------------

Undoubtedly,
if we thought about it long and hard enough,
we could figure it out.
I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...

So because prayer in schools has become taboo, school shootings are rampant?
The entertainment industry has violence that causes more violence?  But wait a minute.  Is there no violence in the Bible?
You see there is violence in movies and videogames because there was violence to begin with, not vice versa.
We can go around blaming others for this, but people are going to be people and even if this became an ideal Christian society, there would still be violence.
And what the heck does abortion have to do with school violence???  If anything it helps reduce it.
But I do agree with the last line.

Just an email I received, I thought it would be interesting to pass on....and, you are right, if anything, the bottom line says it all...and that IS a problem....

Inner Strength

If you can start the day without caffeine or pep pills,

If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you time,

If you can overlook when people take things out on you when,

through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can face the world without lies and deceit,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

If you can do all these things,

Then you are probably the family dog.

Statistics do support that high schools which provide condoms & sex education to their students have significantly lower teenage pregnancy & std rates -- but do not have statistically higher sexual activity.

Abstinence is best -- but I'd rather they had all of the facts.

If god is all-powerful, he/she can go where he/she wishes to go. You have assigned the human emotion of petulance to an all-powerful being. What a crappy cop-out. That stinks.

All I have to say is I've never been a strong Christian, but was exposed to it because my parents are.  I've played every bloody videogame you can think of, seen about every gory, violent movie that's been made.  And yes in my high school days, I listened to rap that "promotes" violence.  Yet I have never harmed a soul or ever thought of doing so.  Everyone of my friends is the same.  Why?  Because we had good freakin' parents.

That is exactly where it starts IYT...I had great parents also, my dad never stepped foot in a church for worship reasons....my mom was not a "practicing" Christian, but was raisded so...

and that is not my point, christian or not christian, Good Parenting IS the KEY....kids who watch videos and play some of these games, without any parental guidance can easily become confuesed and numb to what is real and not real...imho...but, moral values is losing it's way across this country....

So do you attribute this loss of moral values to the demise of Christianity in schools?

Just a side note....

My sisters and I were going through my mom's belongings and we came across a Bible that my mom was given at SCHOOL the end of her 3rd grade year.

It's amazing how quickly society changed. And I believe there are a number of baby boomers that didn't even know it was changing or cared less, but now that the results are beginning to show more of them are starting to care.
A day late and a dollar short as my mom would have said.
Life is a test,
Life is a trust.
