Pumpkin Update

The pumpkins are really growing fast now.     I have some that are the size of basketballs. They are also ripening at a rapid pace.  There are many little ones. This is weird, but some of the vines are re blooming, and more baby pumpkins are popping out.  My ornamental Indian corn is just now getting tiny weeny ears on it. The sunflowers are 5 feet tall, and are starting to get heads on them. The pepper plants have stalled for some reason. The tomatoes are rotting before they ripen. All in all I'd say  it might be a good harvest this year. I'm really thrilled that the pumpkins are doing soo well. I'm soo excited I might go out Halloween night, and sit in the punkin'  patch, and wait for the Great Pumpkin LOL!!!

Yes, we did have a lot of rain last night. We needed it real bad. Today after it drys off, I've got to mow.    We've gotten rain several times this week, so the yard looks like a jungle LOL!!!    I did  some weeding last night too. Everything was getting overtaken by weeds. One of the pumpkin vines wrapped itself around one of the sunflowers, and they're making beautiful music together LMAO!!! As long as the pumpkin vine, doesn't strangle the sunflower, it'll be OK.

Probably before Halloween. Yesterday when I checked them, I went further into the patch and found a bunch more the size of basket balls. Some of them are probably a week away from being ripe. I'm curious about how many I've got all together. I'm pretty excited about them. I planted them by myself. They are a little too close together,but they look good. When I planted the Indian corn,it was raining and I had to hurry,and the rows turned out soo crooked, it looked like a drunk planted them.

Oh you are soooooooooooo lucky!!  I would never leave the house--I'm a Halloween/Jack-O'-Lantern freak  (you neva woulda guessed, right?)

I would be home carving all the time--and cooking--luv me some pumpkin soup and roasted seeds   mmmmmmmmmm

You know they say pumpkin is really good for you. Mostly I just like pumpkin pie,but I'm going to try my hand at making pumpkin bread this year. I've never tried pumpkin soup, I might check that out too. Halloween is 2nd only to Christmas in my book. We live in the country now, but when we lived in town we passed out candy, to the trick or treaters.We used to give out full sized candy bars, or made up goody bags with trinkets in them. We don't have any come out here.Usually, I sit and watch horror movies and pig out. And be freaked out about being alone in the country on Halloween. LOL!!!

Pumpkin bread.....yummy.  I haven't had any for a long time.  I used to make it every year when the kids were still home but since there's just two of us now and we don't really eat that much sweets I rarely bake at all.

I've never made pumpkin bread before. I bake a lot. Mostly cupcakes and cookies. At Christmas time I make praline pecans. Those are the bomb.  I'm totally excited about the up coming harvest. Fall is my favorite season.

Those are soooo good.  I think, no, I know, I would take one of those over pumpkin bread any day and I like pumpkin bread.
