The third round of chemo begins Monday

I have to use this weekend to get all my cleaning and cooking done so that I don't have to smell anything that will make me barf.

Even spray cleaners make my tummy churn.........weird, huh?

Sunny

How about the scents of mint, lemon or lavendar? (one at a time, of course)

I know during pregnancy, a lot of women are able to curb the nausea with lollipops or sour candies?

I am sorry that you have to struggle through the nasties again. :(

No, it's not weird at all actually. You're entire body is going through a completely differant process right now. Everything's out of kilter. On the cooking and cleaning I wouldn't over do it. Just do what you're able to, and don't worry about the rest. There will be plenty of time when you're feeling better.  Maybe some aroma therapy would help. I don't know if you buy Avon products or not, but they have a scent called Tranquil Moments that I use a lot. On days when I work, I shoot a shot of it between my boobs, because my boss is such a biotch that I need a coping mechanism, to keep from throttling her LOL!!!!  So, it might help you too.

Tallu,

Along the lines of what Sunny suggested, when I was pregnant w/my daughter, I craved lemons. Anything lemony. My Dr. asked me if I was having cravings and what and he asked me about morning sickness and I wasn't having any and he suggested that could be why. The scent of lemon neutralizes other aromas. He said that some pregnant women carry around a sliced up lemon with them to smell in case an odor becomes to overwhelming. Might help?

Hey, thats a great idea. I've never heard that before, but lemons are a gift from God. There are soo many things they can be used for.

Well gals, I'm up for anything at this point--not closing my mind to any suggestions!  I've also found that vanilla helps.  I have a vanilla body spray that I spray on a hankerchief and take a whiff when there is an unpleasant odor around and it works nicely.

Hehe, you could smear some Vicks Vapo Rub, under your nose like the coroners do on TV.

ewwwwwwwwwww I hate that stuff. The only thing I can think of that smells worse is Ben Gay. Mom used to rub Vicks under my nose and on my chest and back if I had a cold. The alternative was castor oil :spooked: she seemed to think that cured everything.

Vicks is the wonder rub you know LOL!!!! I hate the smell of Ben Gay. I have arthritis so sometimes I have to put it on. That smell seems to last an eternity. Especially if it gets on furniture. It does help quite a bit, but man what a stench.  So, it's either suffer the pain or go stinky LOL!!!!

Eek...gads...u ladies are making ME nauseaus! Vicks & ben gay? *blech*

I read not too long ago that giving a child a lollipop when they have a tummy ache (like a little dum dum pop) can calm their belly. Not exactly sure where I read it (more than likely Parents magazine) or what the scientific reasoning is behind it.

I have a smell obsession...and a lot of things make me sick to my stomach...but, I'm usually pretty good with cinnamon, spearmint, clove, some vanillas (there ARE differences), and most citrus (lime, lemon, orange zest).

Just read that ginger-peach tea helps with the nausea after chemo, too. *shrug*

Hopefully some of this helps you tomorrow, Tallulah...we'll keep you in our thoughts, love.
