This morning I broke a mirror. I stepped right on the damn thing. I don't know why I left it on the floor by the couch, but I did, and now look what happened. My husband is extremely superstitious. I am to a degree. My husband is scared to death my black cats cause bad luck. I don't think they do. I am however concerned about the broken mirror. I suppose I'm going to have bad luck for the next 7 years. That's all I need . Any hoo, I was wondering if anybody else here is superstitious? Does anybody know of a remedy for the curse of a broken mirror??

No, I don't know of a remedy and it reminds me of breaking a mirror when I was a kid and the look on mom's face and me thinking that I'd be 21 before I'd have good luck again. LOL Mom was VERY superstitious. If a black cat crossed our paths we had to do 3 "X"s across our path to ward of the bad luck. If I were walking w/mom and "split a pole", meaning walked on the opposite side of the pole, then I'd have to back up and come around the other side. Lets see, ear itches someone is talking about you (right or left indicates if it's good or bad). Eye itches means you're going to see someone you aren't expecting (right or left means someone you do or don't want to see). Right hand itches and you'll shake hands w/a stranger and left hand itches and you're going to get money. I can't recall what the nose itching meant. A broom falls in front of the door and it was something negative to do w/visitors, even though we had a horseshoe over the door for good luck, so I don't know how anything bad could happen.. A bird flies in the house and there's going to be a death in the family. See a cardinal and that meant you were going to see someone you weren't expecting to see. Dream of death and a baby was going to be born. Dream of birth and it meant someone was going to die. Spill salt and you could toss a bit over one of your shoulders to break the spell. '

On and on...I'm not superstitious though and I guess that's why I'm not sure about some of these. LOL

If your ears burn, somebody's talking about you. If a hearse drives by, you're supposed to grab your shirt buttons, or you'll be the next passenger in it. It just goes on and on, there are a million of them. If your nose itches your butts in danger. In danger of what I have no clue. Sounds like your Mom is very superstitious. I think black cats are good luck, unless you mistreat them. I wonder if there are any involving flys, the outside of my house, and the yard has swarms of them everywhere. We can't figure out why. We looked at everything and can't find a source.    I think there is some old wives tale about flys, but I can't remember what it is.

Well, that's just like the number 13. It's my lucky number. Mom would avoid it at all costs. When the bakery tried to give her a baker's dozen..she said "keep it".

Wow, she really did believe in bad luck!!! We have this elderly couple that comes to KFC,to buy cookies. We sell them by the bakers dozen, and if somebody forgets and just gives them 12, you'd think the world was coming to an end. They stand at the counter, and open the box ,and count them before they leave.  :spooked: Now, I realize that they are elderly, and have nothing in life to live for, and those cookies are all that's left in life for them, but Jesum Crow!!! I guess that 13th cookie, would be a reason for the end of civilization, and life as we know it. The Sun will burn out, the earth will spin off it's axis, the moon will fall into the ocean, and the rivers will cease to flow. It's all because somebody forgot the 13 th cookie.  :spooked:  Whoever the unfortunate worker is that forgot the 13th cookie, will be tossed unceremoniously, into the lake of fire, and burn for eternity. LOL!!
