Saw Chapin in concert just before he released "Sequel."

It was the first time he performed it in public.

Man, that gives me a rush -- back in the day.

I was just about on my way to Karma Records to buy tickets to one of his shows when I heard on the radio that he'd been killed in a car wreck. So sad...

Yep. Also had a brother named Steve who played guitar and sang, I think.

Had a lead foot. Ran himself into the back end of a tractor-trailer on the New York Thruway, if I remember right. I think I have a copy of everything he ever wrote/sang. Also have an autographed copy of his book of poetry.

He also very quietly got a huge bunch of musicians from across the spectrum to donate TONS of concert proceeds to hunger programs for children in the US and, eventually, expanded it to other countries.

Hell of a guy.
