Club Rubenesque

When it comes to relations with the opposite sex, I'm an equal-opportunity kind of guy.  I've dated women who 10 years younger than me and women who are 20 years older than me.  I've dated blondes, brunettes, redheads, and raven-headed women.  I've dated Protestants, Agnostics, Buddhists, Catholics and Agnostics.  I've dated Democrats, Republicans, and women who wouldn't know where to find a phone booth -- much less a voting booth.  There have been Caucasians, African-Americans, Brazilians (rrrow!), Asian-Americans, and Latinas.

(After reading that paragraph, I guess I don't have as difficult a time with women as I give myself credit for.)

But...I find myself very attracted to larger women.

Now, when I say larger women, I don't mean "morbidly obese and requiring the use of a Rascal power chair to get from the bedroom to the kitchen."  I mean a woman with meat on her bones.  Some call them BBWs.  Some call them curvaceous.  Some call them Rubenesque.

Which leads me to Club Rubenesque.  Club Rubenesque is a weekly dance in Tampa that caters to BBWs and their admirers.  I've been checking it out off and on for the past couple of months.  And I've had an excellent evening each time I've been there.  

My attraction to larger women is not so much due to how they appear physically, but more to how they carry themselves emotionally.  They seem to be more genuine, more outgoing, and sometimes more straightforward (as demonstrated by the one who groped me my first night at the club) than women who are obsessed with their physical appearance.  And that's not to say that these ladies don't dress up.  You won't see mumus and baggy sweaters here.  There are a lot of very sexy garments being designed today with larger women in mind.

While some think of places like Club Rubenesque as "hook-up" joints, I really doubt there's much of that going on.  Although, I have to admit that my most memorable sexual experiences seem to be with larger women (and the Brazilian).  There's an old joke that goes "How is a fat girl like a moped?"  The answer is "They're fun to ride but you don't want your friends to see you on one."  I don't care what my friends see.  If they see me out with someone it's because we enjoy each other's company regardless of how we appear to them.

So, call me a chubby-chaser or whatever.  I can deal with it...as long as there are places like Club Rubenesque around to make the chase less tedious.
