This isn't a true crime subject, but cats are my life.I like to tell people about my very special kitty. Her name is Champ. She is one of my rescue/special needs cats.I saved Champ from what I  would consider the most abhorant situations. An elderly lady had her. A friend of mine worked for the lady. My friend told me one, of her clients had a kitten, with a severe eye infection. I asked if she was going to get treatment for it,she said the woman wasn't going to. I said"does she even want it"??? She said no,so I told her Id take it. Champ was about 6 weeks old when I got her. This kitten had such a bad eye infection, for so long that she no longer had any eye's.  She was so malnorished and dehydrated, that her genitals were so shrunken 'that we couldn't tell what sex she was for the first 2 mounths. I had a hard choice to make. It was either have her put to sleep,or take on the care of a special needs cat. I talked to the vet and asked his opinion. He said she wasn't suffering and really felt that I could pull off the special needs issue. Im sooo glad I kept her.We have toys that make sound for her and she has a lot of fun with them. We never move anything, because she has a pattern, to get around the house. She has a full and happy life. A friend of mine kept her while I worked. We called it kitty day care. I really feel so blessed that she came into my life. She really is a gift from God. :smitten:

What a sweet story! Once a friend and I rescued a litter of kittens that someone had placed in a trash can. We were walking to lunch and heard a distinct "mew". We started to keep walking, but happen to notice that it was more than one and sounded kinda desperate. So, we started looking around. I don't know why, but I lifted the lid of a trash can. Right on top was 6 little kittens..every color imaginable. They'd been placed in a plastic grocery bag, but had clawed their way through. we gathered them up...three apiece. They didn't even struggle, like they knew we were going to help them.

We took them back to our place of employment...a county library. The patrons instantly took to these kittens. One patron was a vet and he took them to his office and gave them shots and defleaed them for free and brought them back. One by one they were adopted, but the "library cats" became kinda famous in our small town. They even earned a story in the local paper on the front page (beside the obituaries-I know..the paper was only two pages long).

Some of the the books and just about every surface had little paw prints in them where the cats would walk through the stamp pad and run across the books.

It's hard to believe people can be so cruel to animals. :o Champ has a fan club too. People that I dont even know, will come up to me and say" aren't you the lady, with the cat that has no eyes???"My friend works at a vet clinic, she's the one who provided kitty day care for Champ, while I was at work. Alot of the towns people came to see her. Everybody just loves her to pieces. She's a beautiful cat. She's a siamese/hemilayian mix. You couldn't ask for a better little cat.June 2 nd is her (rebirth) date. Im seriously considering some sort of a kitty extravaganda. She'll be 1 and you only turn 1 once LOL!!!

Wow! That is a fantastic story. I bet she is beautiful. I had a blue point Himalayan once. He was so cool. He loved to sleep in the sink and on top of the fridge and he used to fetch pens and pencils, but only in the way a cat does.

I was writing a letter and he wouldn't leave me alone. So I threw the pencil to get rid of him. About 15 minutes later, here he came w/it in  his mouth. I tossed it again. He'd play with it for a while, then bring it back. Everyone that came to my house, loved to play w/Joe the fetching cat. LOL

This isn't him (I googled the pic), but it could pass for him.

I bet he is beautiful. :)  My cats wont let me do anything without some sort of interruption. It doesent matter what it is, they've got to have their nose in it. I can see where that curiosity killed the cat  saying came into play. LOL I've seen my cats do some crazy stuff, just to figure out what it is and how it works. The other night we had quite a dissatrohpy,I went to the bathroom at somewhere around 2,I put up the toilet seat lid,was starting to pull my pants down, when all of a sudden, one of the cats came flying out of the darkness, and you guessed it,flew right into the toilet. Man you talk about mayhem, the other cats freaked out and went in all directions. As you can guess the cat in the toilet began to panic and was flayling around wildly. I've never seen a cats eyes get soo big. By the time it was over, the cat looked like a drowned rat ,there was a trail of water all over the house, and I was soaked. I was only half awake when it all started. That icy cold toilet water is better than any alarm clock. There's never a dull minute when you have critters!!! LOL

You know it really is total chaos at my house. My special needs cats are indoors. I told you about Champ. I have a tom cat named Marty. He got a super fast moving infection in his right eye. I noticed one night that his eye was puffy and watering. I took him to the vets office his eye had gotten soo bad in 24 hrs that they told me the eye had to be removed. I was soo shocked I almost passed out. :o I told them it had only been 24 hrs and they said it was an extremely fast moving infection. I was just sick. :'( So I asked what my options were. They said 1 would be doing reconstructive surgery, they couldn't promise that he'd be able to see out of it.They said it would be $1500, option 2 would be to do surgery to remove the eye at $800. The vet didnt want to mention the third option, because he knew how I would react, but he said you can have him put down, I said absolutely not.He said he wanted me to know all the options. So we took what was behind door #2. He's been fine and he doesent seem to have any problems because of it. I dont have children, so my pets really take up alot of my spare time. I have a Chinese Pug named Pugsly, but I'll save him for another time.

Great cat stories. :)

I don't have any stories, but I have 2 male cats that Brat gave to me when she was no longer allowed to keep them.  Must be pretty special cats too, because about every other day they have friends over. When I say friends over, I mean, I keep finding cats roaming around my house (inside) that don't live here, and they are following the boys.  Had one night before last that I couldn't catch and wouldn't run out the open door.  Looked just like the boys only fuzzy.  It was so odd.  Jason finally came home from work and removed the cat from the house.
Looks like I've come full circle.

I'm cat crazy!!!! I have my special needs cats inside, and a large assortment  outside as well. :) We live in the country and have many strays show up as well.  It costs me $600 a month to pamper and spoil them totally rotten .:spooked:  I never realized how much I was spending,I knew it was a lot.I saved 2 months worth of receipts and added it up. :spooked: I couldn't believe it. :o When this pet food recall happened, I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. Every time I fed them, I wondered if that brand of food, was going to hurt or kill them. What a nightmare!!!! :spooked:By the grace of God ,we were untouched.I really read labels when I buy their food now.

I'd spoil you rotten if you did!!! My entire life revolves around my critters.    I work part time and every penny I make I spend on my pets. I buy for my pets, before I'd ever buy anything for myself. At work we get gift cards, as a bonus they can be anywhere from $10 - $25. When they give me mine,my coworkers always say" So Sheila, what will you be buying ,for the cats with that card"??? They know me so well LOL!!! I know it all sounds kind of crazy, but it works for me LOL!!

I love animals. Those cats are lucky to have someone that loves them so much.  I know someone who invoked the "Family Leave medical act" to stay home with her sick dog. ;D  Animals are family and it makes me sad when people who own them don't get that. :milk:

Good Job Dexter Morgan.

Thanks!!!! :) :) :) It's SO good to know, that other people care SO much for these animals, we've been blessed with.  I love your little moving kitty. :smitten: That is SO cute.  I think people should be allowed time off with their animals, if they're sick /or/ dying. Two years ago my 9 year old Manx, became sick  suddenly. I knew I was going to have to have her put to sleep, because they had tested her for everything under the sun, and didn't know what was wrong.  She just really started to deteriorate really fast, and I wont let my animals suffer. Anyway I went in to work, and I couldn't hold it together, I couldn't stop crying, I told the assistant manager, she actually let me go home and have her put to sleep that afternoon. It was cool of her to do that, because she hates animals.   she totally doesn't understand the concept of me being a MOM to them. She recently has started to understand it better, which is good, because I don't do well, around people who don't like animals. :no:My husband has his will set up, that if we both die ,his cat will be the beneficiary. His cat will be given to a primary care giver, chosen by a lawyer. My estate will go towards animal charities, so that after I'm gone I can still give to needy animals.
