Here's another example.  This is from a news article describing an IRS investigation into Southern Baptist Minister Wiley Drake's personal endorsement of Huckabee on official church letterhead.   This investigation was brought on after Americans United for the Separation of Church and State lodged a complaint with the IRS over Wiley's activities on Huckabee's behalf.

Here is Drake's response against two officers of the organization that filed the complaint:

Quote

Drake later lashed out at them in an Aug. 14 press release and urged his supporters to direct "imprecatory prayer" toward two of the group's officials, Joe Conn and Jeremy Leaming.

He gave as examples of imprecatory prayer: "[Persecute them. ... Let them be put to shame and perish" and "Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow."

He's basically praying for, and directing his followers to pray for the persecution, up to and including death, for the people that filed the complaint.  God's chillin' doin' the best they know how.

No matter how you paint the picture, there are countless examples that god sucks and so do his chillins acting on his behalf whether they be Muslim extremists or nutjobs like Drake.

Well, based on your logic, the death toll of innocents in iraq has a far higher body count for the "christian" side with over 100,000 iraqi civilians killed by the "christian" american bombings.  Again, what is your point?

Terrorism is terroism is terrorism.  You don't need a body count to be a terrorist....

I can't tell if your post is a wonderful example of "willful ignorance" or a deliberate deception.

If it's actual ignorance, and you really can't tell the difference between a thousand pound bomb dropped on a target that accidentally kills people nearby with a car bomb,  deliberately set to kill people just going about their business, you lack any moral understanding of the subject.

The leap from Phelps to collateral damage in war is a bit of bull.  How about Phelps = gang bangers in Bagdad  -  that's yours - and you call it logic. I

I think your position is morally and logically bankrupt.

Other people should not be fooled by your sight of hand here.  You, like I said, can't learn better, or just don't.

Isn't dead ... dead? If you or a loved one were the victim...either on purpose or by accident...would it matter if it were a "well thought out" military plan or some nut w/a bomb strapped to his.....

More willful ignorance PIYA?  Of course.

Last time I saw "collateral damage" it was the same as dead.

Maybe if the 5.56 round that blew through the baby's head doesn't matter if it's not your child.

Sometimes, though, it doesn't hurt to think about just exactly what is meant by the term that is used so loosely by those who are not expected to inflict it.
Ignorance and fanaticism are ravenous. They require constant feeding.

I don't know how you go from Phelps' demonstrations =  Muslim terrorists to some sophomoric remark like "dead" is "dead" or some obvious statement about personal loss in war.  Yes, dead is dead and personal loss is personally tragic.  We can all agree on that.  Am I to infer that you agree with dan foster and some how your statements support his position?  Or are you changing the subject?

dan foster

pretty simple still:

dead = dead = dead

terrorism = terrorism = terrorism

You might go and look up the term.  Phelps is a terrorist.

QuoteWESTON, Wis. (AP) ― An 11-year-old girl died after her parents prayed for healing rather than seek medical help for a treatable form of diabetes, police said Tuesday.

Everest Metro Police Chief Dan Vergin said Madeline Neumann died Sunday.

"She got sicker and sicker until she was dead," he said.

Vergin said an autopsy determined the girl died from diabetic ketoacidosis, an ailment that left her with too little insulin in her body, and she had probably been ill for about 30 days, suffering symptoms like nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, loss of appetite and weakness.

The girl's parents, Dale and Leilani Neumann, attributed the death to "apparently they didn't have enough faith," the police chief said.

They believed the key to healing "was it was better to keep praying. Call more people to help pray," he said.

The mother believes the girl could still be resurrected, the police chief said.

I thought this story would fit here.

Ya know...There are kooks in every religious and non-religious persuasion.

This is nuts.

DK is easily treatable.

I go to the doctor...and then I pray that he does a good job!

wow! i don't think god bears any responsibilty for this one.  seal those parents up in a box, and they can pray for food and water.

Hopefully god will suck again and not give them any.

awol

every time i look at this thread, i think about that southpark song...

Sheila: Times have changed
Our kids are getting worse
They won't obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse!
Sharon: Should we blame the government?
Liane: Or blame society?
Dads: Or should we blame the images on TV?
Sheila: No, blame Canada
Everyone: Blame Canada
Sheila: With all their beady little eyes
And flapping heads so full of lies
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Sheila: We need to form a full assault
Everyone: It's Canada's fault!
Sharon: Don't blame me
For my son Stan
He saw the damn cartoon
And now he's off to join the Klan!
Liane: And my boy Eric once
Had my picture on his shelf
But now when I see him he tells me to fuck myself!
Sheila: Well, blame Canada
Everyone: Blame Canada
Sheila: It seems that everything's gone wrong
Since Canada came along
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Copy Guy: They're not even a real country anyway
Ms. McCormick: My son could've been a doctor or a lawyer rich and true,
Instead he burned up like a piggy on the barbecue
Everyone: Should we blame the matches?
Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?
Sheila: heck no!
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Sheila: With all their hockey hullabaloo
Liane: And that bitch Anne Murray too
Everyone: Blame Canada
Shame on Canada
For...
The smut we must stop
The trash we must bash
The Laughter and fun
Must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus!!!!

OMG, they killed kenny!  You bastards!

Don't you know, we never have to blame "uuuuusss", god is responsible for everything.  Bad things happen, we weren't good enough. Good things happen, we weren't good enough, but we "prayed right hard".

That helps when one lives in a random universe and afraid of EVERYTHING.

Oh yeah, I left out: if someone else does something bad, there is the devil to blame ;>)
