NATCHITOCHES, LA - The American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana today announced a federal court's decision in its free speech lawsuit on behalf of Christian protester Edwin Crayton, whose rights were violated by Natchitoches' unconstitutional permit requirements.

NEWARK, NJ - The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey today praised a decision by U.S. District Court Judge Freda L. Wolfson protecting the religious expression rights of students. The court held that a Frenchtown Elementary School student had the right to sing the song "Awesome God" at a school talent show. The ACLU of New Jersey submitted a friend-of-the-court brief in support of the student.

PROVIDENCE, RI -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island announced today that it has filed an appeal in federal court on behalf of a Christian prisoner who was barred from preaching during religious services at the state prison.

....and the list just goes on, and on, and on.  Perhaps a little more research and a little less spoon feeding by the Fox News channel would do you some good.

That would require a giant step back, a major sit-down, and a re-adjusting of thought patterns; all of which is not likely to happen.

How convienient to go to a web-site that is soley set up for this arguement, and has a few cases to brag about....

it is quite clear that the ACLU has a public agenda to make the United States become an atheist nation...they leave no stone unturned to remove Christian prayer, the cross of Jesus Christ, the Christmas Nativity, the Ten Commandments, and all other visible signs of Christianity from every aspect of American life.....

FoxNews has nothing to do with my beliefs, it is my Christian convictions that tells me that there much more to the ACLU than 'civil liberties'....starting with the fact they are founded by prominent members of the Council on Foreign Relations (the domestic organization of New World Order advocates), and the Communist Party of America.....

what difference does it make where the info came from? Those cases DID happen, proving what he said--that the ACLU is standing up for Christians all the time. And why shouldnt all the things you mentioned be removed from public life? You'd be screaming to high heaven, Id wager, if it were symbols of a relgion other than yours on display at every courthouse. Have Christians become to weak in faith that they have to have a little reminder of him on every doorstep?

Are you disputing that the cases cited occurred?

LOL!  You must be privy to some internal memos or policy statements of the ACLU.  Please post the information that shows objective proof that the ACLU is trying to make the US an atheist nation.   The position of the ACLU on protecting religious freedom is quite clear.  That position is that everyone's right to practice whatever religion they so choose is best protected by keeping the government out of it.

I would suggest that therein lies the problem.  When religious convictions enter into the picture, they are often based on little, if any, facts.

this country was founded to be a nation where religion is not a factor in law.  generally on these issues the ACLU attempts to remind the courts and legislatures of that fact.  and don't tell me about how are laws are based on the "judeo-christian ethic"  no doubt about it.  but the fact that laws HAVE been made based on religous beliefs doesn't make it proper.  separation of church and state is not so that you (or anyone else) can worship and believe freely, it is so you (or anyone else) can't oppress someone elses right to worship and believe freely.  there is a distinction there.  and that's why you see the ACLU active on these issues.

Just saying that most people have their thought patterns deeply established by this time in their lives. To alter them would take a life-changing event which would cause a rethinking of base "truths."

That's not likely to happen.

So it makes these discussions intellectual exercises, at best. No one is going to change his/her mind about any of this.

No offense intended, just stating factually what I've learned and observed over 40+ years of dealing with people.
