15 years ago, my youngest son purchased a rolling shell of a 66 Fairlane.  He's had it on the road, and as of late the dragstrip, for most of that time.  Last year he hooked up with the Southeast Gasser Association, as co founder of their new Super Stock class.  SEGA is a period correct drag racing organization with the focus on 1967 and earlier cars, parts, appearance etc.  Plus all competitors run manual transmissions, race heads up, first one to the finish line wins.  No bracket racing here, just give it all you've got, and hope you brought enough!

Since my car is still in the parts gathering stages, the wife and I have volunteered to help out at the 11 SEGA events this year, by assisting with the running of the Super Stock class.  We started out a little over a week ago at the rain delayed opener at Shadyside Dragway near Shelby NC.  This past weekend we were in London KY.  In three weeks we go to Baileyton AL. We will definitely get our share of traveling all over the south this year, but we are having a good time.

You can go to you tube and check out the race recaps, as they are all posted.  If you are a fan of old style drag racing, you will enjoy SEGA.

Here it is still missing the bumpers.  Candy yellow over a copper base.  It looks gold in bright light, but as evening comes it takes on an orange cast.  Looking forward to seeing it under the track lights this weekend.

We survived Alabama.  The car got a little loose on the first pass Saturday, and I got a little concerned when it headed to the wall, but my son reacted quickly yet gently and gathered it up.  He lost in the second round to the eventual winner, but as always he learned a lot for the next outing in a couple of weeks.  Not bad for his first race of the season with no testing under his belt.
