Anyone see the official portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Obama. They are different than the only other official portraits I have seen, but they are very good likenesses, imo. I don't understand why Mr. Obama surrounded by ivy. I like Mrs. Obama's best. Reminds me of a fashion design rendering. Very stylish.

I don't care for the background on his but it is a good likeness and I don't think hers looks a thing like her but I do like the way it looks as far as the pose and the dress.

I don't get the flower thing!  Weird as F!

Henry, this may help explain it.  https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/12/politics/obama-portrait-unveiling/index.html

I don't think it's an exact likeness, either, as most portraits go, but I think it captures her elegance and grace.  From the above article, ""Amy, I want to thank you for so spectacularly capturing the grace and beauty and intelligence and charm and hotness of the woman I love," the former President said of his wife."  I love the way he talks about Michelle! :smitten:

In art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And with the former first family, if they are satisfied with their portraits that is all that matters.

I've also found that portraits lose perspective and content when viewed via pictures and other media. The only true way to assess their perspective, content, and accuracy is with a personal viewing. . .

Still, the flower thing is at the least pretty f'ing odd.

Not if you care about the environment. Not if you love plants and nature. . .

I care about the environment and I love plants and nature...........THAT is still f'ing weird.  I can think of plenty of other ways to express it.........it makes me think of a Beatles or Pink Floyd album cover....NOT a portrait of a POTUS....but, not really a worry of mine, just an observation.

And just how do you figure that? If that were Trump in that painting ya'll would be making fun of it big time and you know it.

Just my imagination.

President Obama has a great sense of humor. And class. Example, the dinner where he showed his imaginary self as a baby in the jungle, with music from The Jungle Book . (That was when Trump was still insisting that Obama was not an American citizen.) As for Mrs. Obama, I would guess she figured she earned the right to portray herself (tongue in cheek) as a southern belle.
