Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. Powell said Tuesday that the U.S. economy appears to be in the midst of a "remarkably positive" period that is unprecedented in modern history. The Fed is predicting that unemployment will remain below 4 percent through 2020 and that inflation will stay low — around 2 percent — during that time. This has never happened in modern U.S. history. "This historically rare pairing of steady, low inflation and very low unemployment is a testament to the fact we remain in extraordinary times. This is almost the 'too good to be true' economy."

Thank you Bo D.  But it doesn't seem like Henry wants to answer.

This thread is called "Trump Accomplishments".  He certainly has accomplished mocking people.  He mocked John McCain for being a POW, he mocked Serge Kovaleski, a disabled reporter, he mocked the family of Army Capt. Humayun Khan who died in Iraq, and now he stoops so low as to mock Christine Blasey Ford's testimony after last week when he called her testimony "very credible".

This makes me sick.  Henry, how in hell can you support someone who is so unpresidential and mocks and bullies so many people?  This behavior is absolutely shameful and unacceptable.  I want a president who has class and intelligence.
So very well said!

I carry two cell phones; one personal and one work. This afternoon I got double tapped by the Raging Cheetos "presidential alert" . WTF do we need that for? Isn't Twitter enough for this narcissistic jackass?

And then, much like him, the fucking thing wouldn't stop! 😡😡😡

I hate to break your bubble....The alert is part of the Wireless Emergency Alerts system (WEA), the result of a law that former president Barack Obama signed in 2016, requiring FEMA to create a system for the head of state to broadcast public safety announcements about disasters and terrorist attacks to the public.

If you were wondering... No, Trump won't be able to use the system to broadcast his tweets. The law explicitly states, "The public alert and warning system shall not be used to transmit a message that does not relate to a natural disaster, act of terrorism, or other man-made disaster or threat to public safety."

The simple fact of the matter is that they don't care.  Things like character, class and integrity don't matter at all to these people.  They don't possess these qualities themselves so why would they possibly expect them from their leaders?

It actually dates back to the WARN act passed by Congress in 2006 and has slowly been evolving since.

My question is this: in what type of national emergency will this make any difference whatsoever in the outcome?

Since when did tRump ever obey the law?

This is almost the 'too good to be true' economy."

And he attributed NONE of the economic news to tRump. He attributed the balance to aggressive Fed action to control and respond to inflation expectations. If a belief grows that inflation is building, businesses sometimes will raise prices and increase wages to head it off. Similarly, a belief that inflation will remain too low also can depress activity.

He also said "It's a fact that the United States is not on a sustainable fiscal path," Powell said at a central banking conference in Stockholm, Sweden.

On wages, he said "It's a bit of a mystery why they're not bidding up this scarce commodity of labor more," he said. "We have seen a gradual increase. My own expectation would be that we would see more of that." It's possible, Powell said, that workers simply don't have the same bargaining power to demand higher pay that they used to."

Try reading the whole story, Henry.

I wasn't wondering.

I find it challenging to believe anything a group of citizens say when just 24 months ago they were afraid women would be assaulted in the bathroom, but today they demonstrate that they wouldn't believe them if they were.

Why do that when you can just pick out the parts you like and pretend that is the story?
