Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Everyone should read this article and listen to this interview of a KGB defector who warned us about Russia's long game over 30 years ago. That long game is bearing fruit now.

"They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern [alluding to Pavlov]. You can not change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black, you still can not change the basic perception and the logic of behavior."

I love how the dupes are ignoring this.

Probably not too many...we will see exactly this November.  Economic Optimism is leading the pack.

Of course those that have been brainwashed would think that.

Economic Optimism is leading the pack.

Those who are optimistic about the long term prospects for the economy in the face of Trump's disastrous trade policies have clearly never studied economics.  The cracks are already beginning to show.

Trump isn't stupid, despite what you may want to believe.  He is a negotiator. That is what he is doing.  I have confidence we will be stronger, when all is said and done. Time will indeed prove this right or wrong.

They sure are, and the exact same thing that we said would come to pass is starting to come to pass.  That being, a lot of those who were cheering for Trump during the election are the same ones who are going to be negatively affected by his policies.

Hank, you may see him as a negotiator, but he doesn't have a clue what he's doing.  I could go out and negotiate a nuclear arms deal, but it doesn't mean that I'm qualified to do so.  Same with Trump.

And the difference between Trump and his predecessors is that at least previous presidents would listen to advisers when making such negotiations; listening to people who have been in that sort of business for decades.  Trump goes it alone thinking he alone has all the answers, and he snivels around like a petulant child when people try to tell him he's wrong.

Time will tell indeed because he's playing a short game without consideration of the long term consequences.  Markets are not like a faucet that you can turn on and off.  Once foreign markets have found other sources for the products they need, what would be the impetus for them to start buying from the U.S. again?

China is already buying soybeans from Russia, propping up their economy while U.S. taxpayers are funding welfare for our farmers whose markets have dried up.    Likewise, U.S. manufacturers are eating the decrease in their profits due to higher material costs so prices haven't gone up...yet...but they must eventually.  Steel is more expensive in the U.S. right now than anywhere else in the world.  While steel and aluminum tariffs are projected to add 28-30,000 jobs in that industry, they are projected to cost several hundred thousand jobs in others.  I could go on and on but I'm sure you get the idea.  None of this is sustainable long term.
