I was born a dreamer. Still am. Always will be. It's a way to escape when the world gets too ugly. So, this evening I turned off the TV and thought about a way to get Trump out of my head.

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing
there is a field. I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.

Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
Doesn't make any sense.   --Rumi

All of life is a process of testing and initiation, always preparing for a higher level of consciousness -- and illumination. -- John Horn

The Troll

  Would this be poetry?

A woodpecker sitting on a school room door.

He pecked and pecked until his pecker got sore!

He flew away with his pecker limp and sore.

I'll bet he won't peck on a school room door any more.

  :haha:  :tiphat:

Locutus

Is that a personal creation Troll?  ;D
One of the gravest dangers to the survival of our republic is an ignorant electorate routinely feeding at the trough of propaganda.   -- Locutus

"We are all connected; To each other, biologically. To the earth, chemically. To the rest of the universe atomically."  -- Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson

Sure.

As for me, I don't sit around reading poetry all the time, but every now and then I read something that seems just right. And that poem by Rumi exactly expressed my feelings at the time. The remarkable thing, to me, was that Rumi was a 13th century Persian Sunni Muslim poet, jurist, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi Mystic.

My favorite poem by Ogden Nash:

The cow is of the bovine ilk.
One end is moo,
The other milk.

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on. Robert Frost

Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness yet become something beautiful.
