"Pakistan International Airlines Flight PK-661 carrying 40 passengers has lost contact with a control tower, the airline said in a statement Wednesday.

"We regret to inform that PIA's ATR-42 aircraft operating as PK-661, carrying around 40 persons lost its contact with control tower on its way from Chitral (Pakistan) to Islamabad a short while ago," the statement said.
"All resources are being mobilized to locate the aircraft. Media will be kept informed as situation develops."

". . .Daniyal Gilani, the spokesman for Pakistan International Airlines, says their ATR-42 aircraft carrying around 40 passengers and crew lost touch Wednesday with the control tower. He says all resources are being mobilized to locate the plane.

A local police official, Khursheed Tanoli, told state-run Pakistan Television that the plane went down in a village in the northwest and that rescuers are trying to reach the site of the crash. . ."

  The maintenance of aircraft overseas and out of the country is pathetic, halfassed and none existent.

  The American airlines tried to have their aircraft maintenance done out of country, but the FAA put a stop :stop:  :stop: to that.   :para: :usmad:
